I am serious about this, ADC Ryze could actually be decent.

Murmana + triforce = great powerspike, triforce is so spammable with low cd abilities, mana from sheen and murmana works well with his spells

Q - some extra dps W - A root to stop bruisers, etc, from getting in your face R - ms boost for kiting and healing from your spells e - shoving the wave faster, average aoe dmg late game.

finish off the build with ghostblade, i.e, botrk, then a GA/Bansheeis/Zephyr/Lucidity/Last whisper Ghostblade could be replaced with PD or Shiv ofc, botrk could be replaced with BT, etc.

Thing about this build is r + ghostblade + botrk + w allows for some major kiting/chase potential, and the decent attk speed also allows you to kite easier, rather than having an AD heavy build which made your aa's too slow....

Let's see: Ryze auto range: 550 Q range: 625 Why not just have an AP ryze? AP ryze even deals more dps.

it's really not impressive since ryze is a huge dps mage anyways... it's like having an ADC Cassiopeia... and AP ryze even deals reliable dps unlike Cass who requires poison stacks.

If you really want off-meta I suggest ADC Orianna, ADC Malzahar, ADC Ziggs, ADC Soraka, ADC Annie see the difference? making an burst mage into an ADC is more impressive than a DPS mage into an ADC

do you mean AP? and are you building a item 3025 on AP Ryze? if so, I suggest you build a item 3135, item 3157, or item 3089 instead :/ Also chalice is decent on tanky AP ryze because he has so much mana.
