Why is minion block/Blocking champs in general so damn bad?

In my experience, melee top laners suffer GREATLY from minion block. a little bit TOO much. It's virtually impossible to even lane with my favorite melee champs because if i do, and the enemy chogath decides to e, no matter how much i think i am anticipating, trying not to get minion blocked, my champion decides to walk ALL THE WAY around. it's not only minions, try walking past a teammate and spazms everywhere. What the fuck is up with that?
