Ivern Question

so after watching some pbe video's about the new champ. I've heard a lot of people say he is sup viable, witch i do understand and agree with. I am curious however, if Ivern throws his passive on the red camp say for his jg, and his jg smites it, will the smite work with Ivern's passive, or dose the smite have to be from Ivern? if anyone who plays on the pbe has tried or is willing to try and let me know that would be amazing! i just feel like if this is possible then him as sup is super good, cuz then your not just sup to the adc but to the jg as well, and you can help invade the enemy jg super easy, and all around it would be slick AF
