First impression on the new Kayle's kit
Her W and R are mostly the same but with a twist. In W's case, it's very simple twist, in R's taste, it's especially satisfying design IMO. Very well done.
The passive seems to bind together old Kayle E with old Kayle's passive. I think the changes make sense and although it takes away some of the supportive power she offered allies, in this damage meta it's not realistic to ever expect her passive to grant much value. You will reduce greatly perhaps one champion's resistances in the average game, if you're lucky. You're going to get more value out of Kog'Maw's passive even if you don't die because at least his deathrattle is a threat that the enemy might play around and weaken their positioning due to it. So overall, a huge thumbs up for me on this change. Not sure how much I like the idea of her being able to buy Sterak's and then it stops working later on in the game though completely, that seems weird. But I guess it's fine, we could use a semi-complex champion at 450 BE for once. Ryze doesn't count because he's actually very complex.
Her Q seems a lot less like 'another Malphite Q' now although now it reminds me of Jhin's Q. Will have to see it in action in games to get a stronger opinion on it in general.
Her E looks like a great way to fine tune the balance of her since for as strong as it may be, it's going to be very relevant what the cooldown on it is. Overall, this is some very ambitious changes and although I don't expect this rework to surpass Pyke's play rate when he first went live when it goes live itself, I expect it to become top dog when it comes to picks for at least until the next new champ or big rework happens, which means it's in my mind going to be a walloping success.
I know Kayle is getting reworked at the same time as Morgana, and I think that reworks happening at the same time is an overall positive for the community, however I feel like Riot should always be careful about doing it because if they rush through the reworks, then the people that enjoyed playing those champs can get let down. Kayle is my fourth highest mastery champ at the moment and that's despite that I hardly play her anymore because the meta hasn't favored her. She was in top 3 for a long time. It feels good to see a rework like this. It hasn't hit live yet, but I'm very optimistic that I'll like this so much more than the Nunu+Willump and Warwick reworks which have been gallantly praised by others and while I admit they are pretty good reworks, are a bit lacking IMO.
Willump+Nunu's issue for me is that I have difficulty seeing where I'm going when I'm rolling the snowball. The camera gets stuck on them and that's not okay. Warwick's issue is basically that the ultimate feels too unreliable because Warwick can't reactivate his ultimate to trigger the actual damage after the jump. What this means is that he can be body blocked by enemies both preventing him from getting at a weakened enemy which unfortunately fails to fulfill the role playing fantasy of playing a savage and unstoppable wolf monster and it prevents him from escaping if he wants to use it for that after going in way too deep. Being able to escape if necessary while doing a chase would up the fear factor among the enemy team, and I think allowing him to intimidate the opponents through the get out of jail card would be a lot more meaningful and I think I for one and most likely many other players would accept a significant nerf to the cooldown of his ultimate if the reactivation of the ultimate to trigger the suppression and damage was implemented instead of how the ultimate works now.
