Comebacks CAN Happen
Hey, I just got done with a comeback game
A little background info:
- I'm a new Malph
- Vayne was new
- Cass got put up against a Fizz
- Vayne+Leona vs Lucian+Morgana
- Me against a Vlad (all either losing or difficult matchups)
We were maybe 5/16 and 3 of us were willing to surrender while Cass and I thought we still had a chance. Vayne+Lucian were the only AD in the game, and while Vayne did terrible in lane Lucian was 7/0 or something ridiculous like that. This made my job of building difficult and their job incredibly easy to just build magic resist.
Needless to say, the game was absolutely terrible for the first 30 minutes, with us only skirmishing and unable to contest objectives etc etc. It always seemed like one of us was getting caught out and that we were never grouped. Around the 30 or so minute mark we finally started acting like a team, we grouped and (me being a solo player) organized our teamfights right before it happened. With us having the wombo advantage (leona+malph+cass) we figured if elise corralled them as they were trying desperately to push mid we would be able to pull off our wombo.
Eventually, teamfights started working in our favor. Vayne (due to her early start) had been farming top for the majority of the game after bot tower fell and provided the ad/true damage needed to follow up on our wombo. Teamfight after teamfight we took down towers/inhibs, got our much needed 1st drag, and even managed to get a baron. Eventually, we outscaled them to win by just over the 43min mark.
The point of the story is: Don't be so quick to surrender guys. 20 minutes is almost never long enough to judge the outcome of a match. Early game looked like a definite loss, with us having no ad and their only source of ad being fed as hell with a morg and lux to peel for him. They had 2 or more dragons to our 0 and had all their towers up. Over the course of another 20 minutes we were able to make a few outplays, start winning teamfights, and outscale them and eventually win the game, proving that late game is drastically different than the 1st 20 mins of any game, and that outscaling is a thing. Keep your hopes up summoners, the tables turn more often than most think [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
