Swain ult has a lot of charging

So basically this is just a quick question, how come you have to do so much for Swain's ult to be used to its full potential. Normal champions like say, Orianna, have to just wait for her cooldown before pressing r again. But Swain, Swain not only has to wait for cooldown, also has to get 5 soul fragments (which yes I know isn't too hard but it can be problematic sometimes a fight started and I haven't been able to land my e or w so I don't have any. Plus after ulting I need to drain a certain amount of health before I can finally release demon flare. Again yes I know his ult isnt only the demon flare, the drain and health return from demon form is very strong, but I have to wait for cooldown, soul fragments, and drain before I can use the strongest demon flare, while orianna can just press r. Last thing about Swain is his w. This ability takes so long to detonate, they changed urgots q to go faster because it took so long to detonate, and yet Swain gets reworked and his w takes even longer than urgots q before it was sped up. I can place my w in front of people and they can walk through it and it will not have detonated by the time they come out the other side. Now to discuss the counter argument for that, yes it is a long range vision granting skill so the longer its there the more vision it can provide which I do agree i would not like the time to be shortened for that. Thoughts?

Completely agree they litteraly rushed him I swear is the worst rework I've seen not only did they not keep the core of what Swain was for striping him of his title but they executed their own vision poorly it's a lackluster attempt to revamp him and it failed miserably they complained of feast or famine he legit now is famine

I've not seen one Swain carry even when ahead, faker who is arguably the best player in the world loses games with him even after executing things well I just don't know what they are doing in not noting the position that Swain is right now they sure we're quick to revert the Zoe nerfs and their favorites I swear they just love to bias their popular characters if they aren't going to fix him at least revert him back to who he was he wasn't over powered and he was at a healthy win rate.

Swain's W takes so long to detonate because it's not intended to be used as a part of your harass combo. It can be used that way, especially if you use it on the root-pulled target for higher chance of hit, but it's not its primary function given it's supposed to be for probing and area denial. Urgot's Q was sped up because it's literally his poke hence taking too long to explode is counter-intuitive; not much for Swain.

The reason for the ulti needing charging time is because the flare is intended to be a finisher, an execute, not a front-load damage, and is the secondary component of the spell; the primary component is the drain. The drain is also unaffected by your fragments, given it is only a factor for the demon flare. And the drain is very potent indeed, you can even combine it with Liandry's and Rylai's (even better, run Ravenous Hunter in the rune page too, though I use the Domination page as secondary for obvious reasons; the primary page I used was Sorcery with Comet) and run into fight head first with ulti on while spamming your spells which should catch someone as long as you're not total noob, and watch them and their teammate try to make the choice between running away and die, or to stay and die to your drain.

You also don't need the strongest flare, too. Because it's only used when the enemy team is already on the verge of dying, they don't take much damage to send them to the world of grey screen. From my play experience with Swain, as long as you have 2+ fragments, it's enough to handle most aftermaths and clean-ups of a fight.
