It has counterplay. You get to choose where you get knocked up and where vi jumps to as long as you can get there before it hits you. That can be the difference between getting picked off or your team collapsing on her.

Besides, some of the more mobile Champs need a point and click cc that can be used against them to let them keep relevant stats, otherwise they wouldn't be used.
