Ok so I don't know if Riot actually takes this seriously but I hope they do. My idea is to just set a tab on all the champions in your owned champion page where you can set the mastery tree for them. That way you dont have to go through the pain of choosing a mastery tree every time you play a different champ. They should still have the option to choose custom masteries but this will leave those 20 mastery slots for much more customized trees for counters and if you dont have a very specific tree in mind then itll be fine you already have it set.

I keep as small a number of trees as possible, the tree I want plus the role it's designed for, and switch any masteries I need to before a game. For example, I have an ADC page that goes all the way down in the Ferocity tree. Depending on who I'm playing and who I'm against, I can switch any of the masteries on there. Playing Jhin? Take DFT instead of Fervor. Twitch/Kalista/almost any other ADC? Fervor. By making sure my masteries are right and switching them based on what I need, I can get nearly infinite fully customized pages within a 20 page limit (I think I'm using about 11-12 pages total now).
