Push Minion Wave or Group Past Them on Open Inhibitor 4v4? Debate and Opinions Please!

Note: Just FYI I was on the Red side this game.

Hey guys.

I just got out of a throw fest of a game and there was, in my opinion, a crucial moment in the game that let the enemy team snowball the game even more during this massive throw fest.

Now my team was fed, although the enemy team still dished out a good amount of damage, especially to me (the ADC in this game). So my team wins a small skirmish. One of the enemy team dies, and I think one of mine might have died as well. After this fight there was an open inhibitor in the middle lane, so we made that our next objective to push. However, this is where my team was somewhat split. Before I give my biased opinion, here is where the options were.

OPTIONS AFTER TEAMFIGHT: 1). I could push the wave in so we had minion leverage while my team held the enemy in their base but do not engage OR disengage if enemy engages. I wanted to push the minion wave so that in case the push doesn't work out and nothing happens, maybe we could fall back and force a baron or something like that. Note: Pushing the wave was an option because I was by the outer turret and didn't have to fall back far to get to it. 2). I could have went with my team down mid so it would of been a 4v4, but could of been dangerous if the enemy team won the teamfight because their minion wave would of been at or around our inhib turret and they could take inhib, or baron, or even push in to win the game if we lost badly enough.

So those were the options.

MY ACTUAL THINKING AFTER THE TEAMFIGHT: "Okay, so there's an open inhibitor with 4 enemies up... 3 of my teammates are wanting to go up mid. I'll clear the minions out, so that way we can get the wave shoved towards their inhibitor so that when/if we take it, the super minions will take over relatively close to their base. In either situation, we could probably fall back to baron after pressuring the mid lane and potentially take it."

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS: So I try to push the wave out, while my team runs down mid. I take a glance when they get there, and I see that they're fighting the enemy team 3v4 without me (don't forget I was ADC and at this point I was pretty fed). So I bail from the minion wave and try to run down mid to assist them but they lose the fight. Now at this point, I was a little annoyed that they would fight without me and told my team so in chat.

Now here is where the reason I am making this thread. I want people's opinion for this. Should I have run past all those minions and grouped up with my team (which was a risky fight in itself because their team comp was quite good at going for ADCs, and were at a point where they could do so effectively, no matter how fed I or my team was), or should I have done like I did; that is, push in the minion wave and join up with my team for the option above?

I mean honestly it could have gone either way. Some could say yes I should of grouped with them right away; others might say what I did was a good choice, if not the right choice.

However, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS I wasn't with my team and they shouldn't of fought without me. Yes I could of went with them earlier and perhaps won the teamfight, but it was pretty risky to do so. I mean, I was playing Jhin ADC with no flash or heal at the time, against an Olaf, Singed, and Ahri ADC (don't ask, but it actually got off the ground running because of the massive clown fiesta throw fest), along with a Bard and Lux to top it all off. It was an obnoxious team to play against especially when your sums are down and you can't rely on your team to peel because they don't seem interested to do so. And they could of been "peeling", but with their comp I mean like MAXIMUM peel. Do anything and everything to keep them off me so I can free hit. That's important since it takes time for Jhin to do damage because of his reload.. Also, if I or the Veigar died, then we straight up lose the teamfight. And like I said, the enemy minion wave in mid was close to our base, so if that happened they could at least take an inhib or baron.

Anyways, it sort of was a little rant and I was a little salty at the time of writing this because it was pretty frustrating losing a game that was pretty much in the bag if my team had not kept getting picked off one by one for whatever reason, or completely maximum peeled for me. We literally straight up threw the game. Like we did a troll surrender but we decided to go an extra 20 minutes. Anyway I think this is a crucial moment because we could of probably taken inhib, baron, or both. At least we would of had pressure on the mid lane.

Thanks for reading this TL:DR thread, and please try to be nice if you give out criticism or your opinions. I try my best to not be salty, but this was just one of those games that can be a little frustrating. Ciao [slayer-jinx-catface]

This happens to me more often than I should. Pushing out is perfectly fine as long as the team is aware of what you're doing and is clear not to engage. When I splitpush and see my teammate circles on the minimap getting close to their team, I'll throw out several DANGER pings so that they're clear that it is not a good idea to fight without me. They usually back up a little bit after that.

Depending on who die on their team and your team the 4v4 it probably still leaves the inhibitor "safe" to defend for the enemy team.

But it really depends on who died on your team and on theirs. If their carry died you push without the minions and you were in the wrong for not looking to an objective.

If their carry did not die and they still had damage then your teammates did not need to fight or push. It was "even" and you should have looked towards setting up for an objective on the map.

I will say though, as the ADC, in general you are not the one to make calls.

The most cooperative route would have been to stay with your team even it was a bad call because you are the damage deal and probably the important factor in the team fight.

In lower Elo, typically the shot-caller tends to be the person that is doing the best on the team. This is usually applicable in Bronze, Silver, and low gold.

Once you get higher I noticed shot calling comes more often from the jungler and/or the support, with the top laner making some calls after laning phase ends.
