Found a duo/flex queue partner. Carries hard but... a bit toxic?

He's an Urgot top/Bot main (silver) who claims to be smurfing. Just about every game I'e played with him he's carried really hard with damn near perfect kdas. But he told me he'd been chat restricted and was a bit abusive to our team a bit back. He's fine with me for some reason but is it worth it? For the climb? Are possibly toxic partners worth the toll for escalation ? I've been stuck in bronze for a while simply because of my experiences with the ranked community so partnering with one seems like a bad idea.
