SOLOQ will be back, but should we thank Riot?

Solo/duoq is coming back next season, we should be happy about that. But i see this sentiment that we should thank Riot now for being such good guys, for bringing the system that was actually good back. But my question is, why should we?

Lets look over what happened with dynamicq.

When DQ was first showed, people already could see that it was an inherently failed and an unfair system, this happened both in low, mid and high elos, even pros have noticed that. Despite all of that, riot decided to ignore all of the critisism and go through with the system.

DQ is shipped at the same time as the new champ select, this part is important, because it just shows how little faith Riot had in its own system and how they tried to hide its failings. You see, they shipped both system together, because with them together, they could use the achievements of champ select as the achievements of DQ. This was done intentionally to further elevate the "status" of DQ. All of those stats and graphs Riot published? They are misleading, intentionally.

Now, at first, it was not a problem, because we were promised a soloq. At first, it was after a week, then longer, then even longer, around half a year passes and we get the announcement that it is not going back. Basically, Riot, to diminish dissent against their system, lied while trying to placate the players. And yes, they lied. The system was already there, you dont just remove the entire code. It would not be hard to bring it back because you already have the code for it. But this was done intentionally. You see, if DQ has no system in competition, players who even like SQ will play DQ, because it is the only choice. Riot were too invested in DQ, so they did not want to bring back SQ because in a free market, people would choose SQ, and DQ needs canon fodder solo players to fill in the premade teams,

Of course, that is not over, while all of this is happening we are being constantly told, that we are the minority, even by Riot themselves. We are being disregarded, because we are the "passionate minority". But for some reason, the changes made, are the changes that this "minority" wanted to happen. How come if the majority liked DQ so much, the changes still happen? Unless this was yet another lie by Riot. You dont make such drastic changes for minorities while disregarding majorities who appareantly "love" DQ.

So, in the end what do we have? Constant lies, constant misleading for the sake of a failed system, because once again, the big wigs at Riot can't accept that they fucked up completely. So should we be thankfull to them? No. We should not.

They fixed what they fucked up themselves, that deserves recognition, but any kind of gratitude? No.

yes, it was really a shameful and poorly carried out system.

It's kind of funny to see them bring back solo Q, now that queue times have become outrageous. Further, the majority (i estimate 75%+) of my friend list on TWO accounts quit the game early in the season.

the solo players quit because this DQ abused them, now queue times increase and premade 4s can barely find games. And these 4s further encourage solo players that actually still play to quit because they are often abused by these premades...a downward spiral we have witnessed.

Riot is climbing a shit rope they can't hold on to, squeezing harder only to slide down further.

I'm sure they saw sales decline as many players quit. Then more players quit because of outrageous queue times. Normal queue should not even exist at this point because of common 8-10 minute queues

I agree, we shouldn't thank them. They only "listened" to us and gave us back a superior system when they finally realized that their imposition of DQ was harmful to their bottomline.

is it a coincidence that while this is all going on, Championship Riven goes on sale? I think not.

I've had my fun bellowing "I told you so", and I think we can cut them some slack now

They fell hard for the sunk cost fallacy and didn't want to back out, but have finally fully reverted their monstrosity and fired Lyte (I still believe this conspiracy theory fight me)

It may have taken an entire year, but at least theyre willing to listen now
