are we ever gonna look at the state of nautilus?

Nautilus have had the title of CC King, and he pays for it by having no damage, or mobility, or innate tankness, and slow MS and slow AS (which is weird considering the only way to pull out his W Damage is with AS, but you wouldn't buy it anyways because once his shield gone which is easy to do, so will his W damage!)

you can't jungle with him, there are always better options, like amumu, Sej, despite the fact that tank junglers aren't good this patch, he haven't seen any action ever since what? Season 3?

so what happens is, he got shifted into different roles, support, top, etc..

so Riot buffed his CD, he got played in ProScene, and thanks to them, it became a Trend, up until he got his E Nerfed.

now he's less than mediocre support, and even much worse in top, and don't get me started on jungle.

it came down to him losing his title of CC King to ornn, who, by the way also has a dash! alot of damage aswell! well, much compared to nautilus anyways.

my Question being, why isn't he turned into a Juggernaut? he feels like a Juggernaut to me, he really do. every tank has some form of constant damage, or HP% damage to make up for their low base damage, or any form of Sustain, or innate tankness, be it damage reduction or Free Defensive stats, nautilus has neither, he has a shield that scales with his bonus HP% but it's in such long CD, that it doesn't make a difference in a teamfight either way, because you can only use it once, and it's on such a long CD because you also deal on-hit damage for it's duration.

which, while we're at it brings the following question; how come Kayle's on-hit Damage applies Liandry's Torment, but Nautilus's W Cannot?

there's alot of problems with Nautilus W, i came to love it, and hate it because of how weird it is, it screams Defensive and offensive at the same time! it screams "Duel!" but the moment it's gone so is every other offensive stance you have.

either make the shield CD reduced by 1 second per ability/AA hit.

or make the Damage from his W; 1- instant, don't give me the DoT treatment, i don't even understand why is it a DoT, just give instant Damage per Auto, to atleast make it feel good to build a little bit of AS. 2- make it so when he loses his Shield, he still gets his On-hit Damage, or ATLEAST 50% of it

another solution, change his W to make it interact with the rest of his Kit, CC'ing an Enemy marks them with an Anchor above their head (it's the Anchor Icon you get when you AA someone with your W's DoT Damage) Damaging Said Champion gives Resistances, or On-hit Damage, or a shield, depends on which ability used.

Tl;dr Change his W, or QoL buff it.

I love big naut, but I sure don't want him to be 'strong', especially because he is a very easy to abuse support case with stat checking, etc.

But I don't want Nautilus as a juggernaut tho... He is a tank, I want him to be this ass giant man who freaking bother the sh*t out of you with ten billion crowd control. He can deal some 'DPS' damage, okay but I rather have naut get standard damage and be a little tankier/have more impact on monsters.

I'm fine with Tanks being "tanky" as long as "Tanky" does not mean Immortal and their damage is reduced,

Being Tanky and doing stupid amounts of damage is unhealthy.

ALSO this should NEVER be possible -

Nautilus is actually viable jungle atm, but he really does have to be built one way, which sucks a bit. As for when he was last viable. Season 3 through to the end of season 5, after that he's struggled. He's viable just not strong.

The reason for his weakness is all the way back when the nerfed his W and buffed his E which is what made him retarded. He was fine back then and he'll likely be fine now if they give his W a small buff. Buffing his W health and damage (the dmg a teeny tiny bit, like 5/upgrade lvl) and he should be all good. The reason it is a DOT and not instant, is because he can hit entire teams with it, also high damage tacked onto a shield generally isn't healthy. Another potential buff is to his base AD and/or making his passive scale with health.

The issue with his kit, is that you can't buff him elsewhere. Buff his E and he's a monster, buffing his Q is pointless because it add burst, though unreliable. The damage is on his W, is because it grants windows of power. Same with many tanks, when something is down their power is gone. It is a massive shield late-game and deals a very decent amount of damage then, however the issue is early game, where it's too weak to clear jungle, too weak to trade and too weak to survive poke.

Things that will help him jungle mainly (where I like him and feel he belongs, as that's where he has always belonged) but also elsewhere:

  1. make monsters an exception in regards to this aspect of his E "Enemies hit by subsequent waves beyond the first are dealt half damage."
  2. buff his movement speed by 5-10
  3. Buff his W base shield and damage value a little bit, and buff the scaling value at max rank.
  4. buff his ultimate cooldown
  5. make his Q reset work on monsters (will allow him to cancel red and blue buff auto attacks before they land)
  6. Buff either his base armor or base health

Also, no he ain't ever been Juggernaut and I don't ever want him to be. Nautilus has been my baby since season 3, if they turned him into a bloody juggernaut I'd quit the game. Think about how many juggernauts, have 3 hard cc spells? How many have 4 total? He's is and always will be, a tank. He's the CC king of tanks, and that's what nautilus mains love about him. If you want naut but as a juggernaut? Go play darius (dot, a slow, a hard CC) and leave Nautilus alone

no damage,

Maybe I'm just bad but when I face Naut in top lane, Sunfire Cape + Abyssal Mask deals ridiculous damage.

or mobility,

What about his Q working on terrain?

or innate tankness,

%Percentage maximum health shield?

slow MS

Probably because of his Q and because of the fact that he's a tank, so he shouldn't have moblility?

slow AS

Yeah well probably because he's not supposed to deal damage in the first place?

MorgManBasher6/27/2018, 11:48:50 AM2 votes

He's a subpar support, garbage at everything else.

Ifneth6/27/2018, 3:02:02 PM1 votes

Juggernaultius would not be compatible with his hard engage, which is his identity and would make him a complete stat-check if paired with damage.

DeusVult6/27/2018, 3:36:58 PM1 votes

Naut is fine as is. He does have innate tankiness by having his W shield, which can become one of the largest shields in the game. His damage is the early to mid game is also nothing to laugh at for most champs, as E max gives you good damage during extended trades and can be used to "poke" melee champs who try to CS in lane.

On top of that, he truly is the CC king. 4 kinds of CC (root, pull, AoE slow, targetted AoE knock-up/slow) He is above average in terms of durability and damage if he stays even in terms of items with his opponents. He is my most played champ. I don't want Naut to suddenly rise to FotM with high ban rates because people want his damage/tankiness to go over the top

stfüleavemealone6/27/2018, 6:28:20 PM1 votes

cc isnt a thing anymore budrow, the game has become burst until death. naut will die to an assassin very quickly and his cc isnt going to help him escape...

Done256/27/2018, 7:55:18 PM1 votes

The reason his shield applies a DoT is to give it good damage without requiring attack speed. While also making sure he can't stack attack speed to boost his damage. Keeps his dps steady and in check.

It’s crazy that his autos stun. I like it, but it uses up his whole power budget. That passive has to go before he can get buffed.

IcyPepper6/27/2018, 10:30:04 PM1 votes

I hear some people buy item 3091 if the enemy has a few sources of magic damage.

Harden Stepback6/28/2018, 2:09:15 AM1 votes

reduce the mana cost on his e and he's good toplane again. E was nerfed due to the triple dring strat but that got nerfed, so i think they should revert it.

Riot doesn't care about tanks.

Wild Geese6/27/2018, 11:12:43 AM1 votes

I'm not sure what to do with him but I'm kind of sick of Nautilus support as he's little more than serviceable at it...

But I get he doesn't really have a place anywhere atm... He needs a tool to be strong in some lane.

Proxy3456/27/2018, 1:27:46 PM1 votes

TBH he sucks balls as a top lane tank and I think he should be built as a bruiser so he can actually contribute something to the team.

Make Naut like the one in the trailer, oneshot graves with one AA

Sire Hippington6/27/2018, 2:46:33 PM1 votes

He didn't loose the title 'CC-king' to orn, but to all tanks.

Seju on release had her ult and an high uptime aoe slow, now she has a knockup on Q, stun on E and still the ult. Zac used to have the knock-up on E, knockback on ult and a slow on Q. Now his Q also is a displace and the ult is a massive displace Gragas back in the day had an AS-slow on Q, MS-slow on E and his ult, now he has a strong slow on Q and a knockback+stun on E with still the ult. Mao had a small knockback+slow on Q and his W root, now he has a big knockback with less cd on Q, still hte root on W, a slow on E and a screen wide root on his ult... Gallio used to have a aoe slow and his ult, now he has a aoe taunt, a knockup and the aoe knockup from ult...

They just brought most tanks up to Nauts lvl of CC, filling up his niche with half the tank rooster On the long term, i think it would be best to revisit tanks and take a good look at the past, I loved tanks in S2. They had good base damage vs squishys, but not great damage vs beefy targets, they got tanky but could opt for a more bruisery built if they wasnted to sacrifice some tankiness for damage, they got solid CC, but the high impact stuff was on high CD and it wasn't overbearing. These days, tanks have lots of %damage causeing them to deal good damage vas other tanks, and thery are so overloaded with CC that they can singlehandadly chain CC a choosen opponent and basically prevent an enemy from playing the game, causeing them to be disgusting whenever they are strong.

Short term, i think Naut needs W+E to be reverted to pre 5.5 so his W is stronger and his E has more impact but also more CD. Then he needs some small buff to his W like either retaining some of the damage once the shield breaks, or lower duration but also lower CD and manacost, or more base AS(indirect buff for the W damage), or atleast more base ad AD fit the big ancor, why does he only reach 117 AD? that's only 3 more than zoe for example... A bit more base health would also go a long way.

P.S.

make the Damage from his W 1- instant, don't give me the DoT treatment, i don't even understand why is it a DoT, just give instant Damage per Auto, to atleast make it feel good to build a little bit of AS.

it might be a dot, but it overlaps so you gain full profit from AS on it anyway
