Placements seem to be based on previous season MMR, rather than division?

last season i rarely ranked bast February, but i did climb out of bronze for the 4th time because every season i got demoted to there from silver in the new placements.

i ended this last season with silver 4.. but that included nearly 16 straight wins to climb directly from bronze 2 to silver 5, and the last time i ranked last season i was getting nearly 30 lp for a win and loses only slightly over 10

this season after going 5/5 in placements. (some of which i had amazing teammates other.. lets put it nicely and say... slightly less amazing XD)

and i was demoted from silver 4 to SILVER 5?????

i mean thanks riot for the first time ever getting it through your head that I'm not bronze.

but this made me think going 5 and 5 as only silver 4 would i highly expected to be demoted to bronze (because you know i am EVERY season)

but it made me think that the fact that my MMR was so high compared to where my actual rank was last season. that it is when you are place it is solely based on mmr. and not where you were "division" wise.

Has anyone else experience this? that it might me based off MMR, and not division?
