A Question for Mordekaiser mains/fanboys

Morde is one of my favorite champions, both in theme and gameplay. That being said, I'm sure that Morde is very likely to receive a gameplay update to some extent sometime in the future.

Mordekaiser's ultimate is an extremely iconic ability, both for Mordekaiser and as an ability in itself. But does Mordekaiser actually really need it? What if Rito randomly came out from the heavens under a rock one day and declared:

"We've decided that while Morde's current ultimate is extremely iconic and is very important in that regard, we've decided it would ultimately be better for Morde, Morde players, opponents of Morde, and gameplay in general, to remove this feature of his and replace it with something far more badass for the purpose of making Morde a better champion"

What does the community think of this? Would Morde players actually not mind changing Morde's ultimate if they knew for a fact that it would make him better, and more enjoyable to play? Or is Morde's ultimate "untouchable" in that regard, and should never be removed?

I would like to hear some discussion on this, because currently Riot has been dumping power into Morde's ult and nerfing the rest of his kit, and that is the exact opposite of what I want for him. Given that scenario, I would be happy to see Morde receive a new ultimate in an eventual gameplay update if I knew it would make him a better, more fun champion. I would like to hear what you think of this, and perhaps Rito's view and insight. In fact, this could be something they could return to if this path of action became a possible one.

I think he needs to be revisioned. Very much like Karma.

NOT to say that he should be adjusted in even 1/10 of what happened to her, but his "Demon of Metal" theme makes no sense if you were to keep his ultimate. So I think that if his ult stays, he should get a new look and new background to justify why he would control someone's soul after dying.

If he were to lose his ultimate, people would get upset, but he would still need something useful that does not give him CC but still makes a large impact. He is THE immobile bruiser mage. He will fight 2 people during a gank, and come out winning because he doesn't have another option.

I think Morde's current kit is great, he's a clutch counter pick, and he's a great 3's champ on TT.

I honestly think that if his ult was changed I'd probably stop playing him :/

To me that would be the same as changing karthus' ult or sona's ult.

I love Morde, but I think he needs at least a little bit of CC. His Q should slow or something, or his ult should silence or do whatever. I also don't think his ult lasts long enough. I wouldn't really say it shouldn't replaced, but I think it should definitely be buffed a little. There's so many times where I just get out of a teamfight right outside of my base, kill the person I ulted, and then as I'm running to push while the enemy team is dead, my ghost disappears like in the center of the map. It's pretty useless, unless you kill somebody at the perfect location and time

DFG is certainly missed. Can't we just add some MR shred while the ult is on or something for compensation?

I think that his ult is fine the way that it is i think that he should have increased move speed or his W can be casted on enemies to slow them down with a small amount of damage overtime.
