is ryze good for (bronze) solo q?
i like playing him and i have the professor ryze skin, but i feel that his ult isnt that useful in bronze, so its like having 1 less ability to use.

He can be, but for entirely different reasons than his high-level success.
Essentially, you have to take advantage of the slower games in at more casual levels of play. Building double tear, for example (

) lets you scale into the later stages of the game with immense single-target burst.
A viable use for his R even without backup is to tower dive with it by taking a bunch of minions with you under tower to close out a kill.
And finally, Transcendence is more viable at lower levels of play than Celerity is, so building to either 30% cdr or 60+% can increase your damage while building dueling power.
is particularly powerful, giving a huge boost to armor, mana for his tear items, and 20% CDR which can translate to 40 AP (+ more with his passive).
Basically he can work but relies on gimmicking his opponent more than outplaying them fullforce.
Until next patch (probably) you can use zhonyas/stopwatch+R as a getaway mechanic. Recommend against trying to use ult for anything else in solo queue.
Don't think of it as not having an R, think of it as being able to max your damage skills sooner. (Also, it's bronze. Less skills to worry about is probably a plus.)

Notice how in 1 game i have a stable 3/1/5 score but in the other two games in a three game radius i literally hit the 20s in kills in both of them (3 shy from 20 in the second one, but close enough). So why is it I was suddenly able to go GOD MODE in two games, but was completely stable and normal in my ranked match?
The answer is simple. In my ranked match I was playing with fellow gold players and I believe 1 plat snuck through. I was playing against people closer to my skill level who woulden't let me snow ball out of control. (all the one can debate I did)
The two games where I popped off hard, was w hen i was with my bronze friends against bronze opponents. Ryze isn't good in bronze solo, he's FUCKING amazing if you know what you are doing. he's a bronze pub stomper.

Pros his E/Q offers huge burst that will hard core chunk anyone in the late game, tanks included. His W offers the worlds easiest form of CC for picks and chain cc. Any adc or mage who is dumb enough to walk even slightly to close to you in the mid game simply DIES. With his passive he is able to get a huge burst of movement speed, which makes dodging and menevuring around your oponents a fucking breeze. With his E/E he will have permanent control over the minion wave, even malzahar will struggle against him. Honestly Ryze is the perfect champion in so many ways to the point if you master him, he's stupidly O.P So what if his ult sucks and is very situation, who cares when your P-E are fucking godly? He is also one of the few mages in the game that gets VERY tanky naturally off base stats and item pathing. Cons None : ^ ) (honestly it's that he doesn't want to build magic shred items, so magic resistant tanks like Galio make him cry)

**Lane Phase **
Level 1 Start the game with E and Mana crystal. Level 1 auto attack the minion you think will die first. and ALWAYS last hit it with E. this will spread your cancer cells.. I MEAN your ability to bounce across the minions, which is where the permanant wave control begins. Always last hit minions with E to keep the spread.
Level 2 Get Q, Continue the stratagy I suggested to you but now manipulate it with your E to get the bonus damage, to make last hitting easier, P.S you still get the spread if you last hit with Q onto an E marked target. Note that your E and Q can bounce onto enemy champions, so if possible look for moments to bounce the damage onto them, easy harass that's quite annoying. Don't be afraid to trade with E and Q level two if you see a chance.
level 3 Put a second point into your E, if you know for fact your Jungler isn't ganking for you level three, or if your not gonna go for some crazy level three all in. You max E first, so you can have TOTAL control over the minion waves, and just insta delete them. At level three if you aren't going for a kill, by now you should have enough money to get a tear of the goddess. Push wave and back, get tear, TP back into lane, you now have a huge advantage. Abuse it!!! Don't forget a pink if you can spare the gold. As ry ze your constantly shubbing waves so wards are bae.
Levels 4-6 At this point you are a wave pushing nightmare, that puts up none stop harrass onto the enemy laner, At this point at level 4 you invested a point into your W, and brief duels have become a sinch. Play aggressive, play mean, play dirty. Constantly shub waves when you have lots of gold so you can spend it on items, don't complete Tear of the Goddess first, go for rod of ages first, you want to stack it as quickly as possible.k Look for bot lane or top lane roams, with your W, ganking is stupidly easy. Spam your jungler to gank for you, so you can set up ganks for them, you have a GUARENTEE MOTHER FUCKING SNARE, it's free as hell.
Past Lane phase
You got your items, your strong, you farmed well, at this point your goal should be to capture adcs, nuke them. Chain cc onto people with your teamates. During teamfights you are basically an AP adc, you are kiting, your running around like a maniac as you chain your E Q combo onto multiple targets, remember kiting is the name of the game with Ryze, He's one of those champions you don't chase, for if he's good he will simply out play you and has the toolkit to allow him to do it. If you see an ADC or a Mage slightly out of place don't be afraid to literally flash onto them, Snare them and kill them. Good Ryze players play like a combination of adc and a assassin. Aggressive, pick oriented mind set with strong kite/orb walk mechanics in team fights.
