Nerfs.... Sigh

(Just saying balance can be achieved in way besides nerfs.) I read lots of things in these boards. I'm convinced gamers in general, not just us league FANatics, but gamers in general have gotten lazy... Look at our generation, and it's games. My father came up in a time when Galaga was beastly, and they used to try to destroy each other's high scores all the time at the local store/arcade/laundromat. They struggled, they fought, they played. They had no clue they were laying the groundwork for future generations of mmo gamers.

But then, the 90's hit. Games got mainstream, and the real Noobs (you know people who only game because they're bored, and really have no business competing in the first place) started showing up to the fray. Now in team games they serve a purpose. They make a mess of everything, and tend to be very good disruptions, but, they also bring with them money. With that money, they bring the power to make game producers listen to their cries of "OP'd!", "NERF THE WITCH!", and "My butthurt hurts too much"... If there were beyond mild imbalances in the game I could understand. So far some of the biggest, and earliest Nerfs (Ryze, Nocturn, Tristania) were all things that proper strategy, and good game play could overcome.

These weren't OP'd champions, they were simply strong enough that it forced other players to either change the way they think about laning, or jungle, or even ganking, or die. But the masses of damned Noob zombies cried, and pee'd themselves to the point the Riot was going to have to do something... Look at the history of Games. They are written to be beatable, to give the illusion that skill carried you through, when really you just followed the guidelines they laid before you in the game itself.

I'm tired of nerfs. I enjoyed the feeling I'd get if I ventured a little too far when there was a Nocturn on the map. I Loved that switch when after a long early game Malphite's slow mid to late game power would finally switch on and that well placed Unstoppable Force would end the "Eternal Nightmare", and the match would turn around.

I've said this time, and time again, It's not OP, just because the way you play isn't working. I didn't like how Ryze used to torment my Malphite, but instead of crying, and throwing my keyboard like a b****, I practiced, I watched, I learned how to overcome. As I have with each and every "quote/unquote" OP champion. If you can overcome a tough champion, then you can do it again.

That's not OP, that's called a challenge. That's what league is, a challenge. If it seems too hard, then go over to Dota or what ever. That's your speed, the kiddy table. This is League, we have a following that even rivals Soccer (Football for my non america global gaming community, we are one people after all) worldwide. Riot, I promise to never ask for a Buff, or a Nerf, if you promise to stop giving into the Noobs. I swear that I as a gamer, will give any of your creations my fullest attention, and my strongest fight, every time, if you promise me, and who ever's with me on this, that you will stop letting the Noobs cry every cool, new ability into nerf oblivion...

I'd recommend breaking up that text into paragraphs if you want people to read it. It's kinda one big block at the moment.

That aside, I definitely agree with your sentiment.

The reason your argument doesn't stand is that this is a PVP game. Stuff being powerful in a PVE game is fine because it's designed to be a challenge, you're supposed to have higher skill than the game's AI which allows you to take down the overpowered boss and feel good In a PVP game your enemy is supposed to be of a similar skill level to you, so of course you're going to get annoyed if they win by choosing a champion that is outright better than yours/feel unsatisfied if you win by having an objectively better champion than your enemy. LoL is about playing champions you find fun, and the concept of certain champions just being stronger than others is stupid. If champions never got balanced then the game would be in a nightmarish place and for the entire duration of the game the same 20 champions would be played. Riot would have ONE chance to get a new champion release right and nightmares like 60% first day win rate Zyra and 35% win rate Bard would have to be left alone because "they're challenges".

And you shouldn't assume that all balance changes are because of "whiners" anyway. A lot of League's balance changes are never even asked for by th community, so if I were you I'd be laying some blame at the balance team themselves. They don't seem to share your philosophy that games should be inherently unfair.

Actually old games (such as Galaga and the like) were written to get harder and harder till the reached the point of being unbeatable by ≈99% of the player-base. It's how all highscore games are made. They just get harder and harder until you lose, and you get your highscore.

League of legends is not a highscore game, and sometimes new things get introduced that throw off balance (like Warwick early Season 5). These things need to be changed, or else the game becomes unfun and you lose a large portion of your playerbase (and seeing as this is Riot Games' sole income right now, that isn't an option)

I saw a Diamond player complain about Fiora. It's not noobs, it's the competitive players that's saying "Let's Nerf Champion so that they can't stop me from pentakilling the enemy team as Katarina." If you're honestly upset about it, rise up to diamond/master after reaching level 30 and maybe Riot will take your consideration more seriously. This is LCS driven, not player driven.
