So, Riot, about the Taric GU/VU and recent design philosophy (Taric in non-support roles)...

So the kit is out, and as I look at it I wonder if the new Taric was designed at all for being able to be played in the solo lanes? I have to be honest I really miss the days of AP Taric being able to burst people, or bruiser Taric being able to deal some damage and wade his way into battle. Did you solely design him for support? Sadly it seems like it might be that way. :/ And given that I've seen plenty of talk of 'lets design a champ less with a strict position in mind and more of a playstyle and see where they settle' that doesn't sit well with me. I mean I'm seeing Aurelion Sol do well in jungle and mid lane, Tahm Kench still does well (when not banned) as support, top, or jungle. This on top of the myriad of ADC's going mid/jungle/top (Graves jung/top, Quinn mid/jung, Jhin mid/adc). Heck, even Ekko and Kindred still see play in multiple positions. So why does it look like the new Taric was not given a similar pass in design to be free to also be top lane at the very least?

I say let's wait until he's out on live and people play with him a bit before coming to a verdict. Remember when the Shen rework first came out and everyone lost their shit because of his new W and said how he's going to be pigeonholed into supporting? Turned out he's still fine in top and his jungle clears got WAY better.

I'm pretty sure he is still good. If not on top, then definitely in the jungle.

Lulu has a similar effect as Taric's new W with her E and Q. All it does is increase range and reliability, really. Taric will likely be the same.

With that new passive, I'd say he's going to make a pretty good top lane bruiser
