Twisted Fate cant auto cancel his pick a card?

So maybe I am just bad at auto-cancelling since I don't have any other reason to use this other than on tf, but is it possible to auto-cancel as tf with a colored card? I tried in sandbox mode for about 15 minutes and couldn't get it to happen while auto cancelling regular autos were not a problem. Cause this would be really useful against champs such as fizz where you can bait his e out without actually throwing your stun out. And if it isn't possible, why isn't it? If jax can block tf's stun card since its considered an "auto attack", why isn't it considered an auto-attack in this situation?
