Salvaging Sunfire Cape

Sunfire Cape is garbage. It has been nerfed so throughly that no tank would even consider taking it right now. Now from what I understand, Sunfire Cape was made into an "AOE" waveclear item this patch, with the intent of helping tanks clear waves faster. Unfortunately, this meant lowering it's tick damage while increasing it's Immolate damage. For some arbitrary reason they also made its range so short that most tanks can't even get the damage off when auto attacking at their max range.

Why is this an issue? Because many tanks currently viable in the meta right now can clear waves just fine without this boosted immolate damage, or even sunfire cape at all. Many preferred to buy it to get some tankiness and aura damage to keep them relevant in teamfights after their cooldowns are blown.

Here's what I suggest. Remove the bonus damage to minions entirely. Change the tick damage from 11 + 1 per level to 10 + 1.5% Bonus health. Revert range nerf. This allows you to have your late game aura damage, without people buying it early just to be a duelist item, while at the same time gating it's damage based on how many items you've purchased prior. This also forces people to choose whether they want to keep stacking health items while forgoing Gargoyle Stoneplate (as they will miss out on damage from it's lack of health (and for anyone who argues that it can double your current health, it also lowers your damage by 60%, making it a moot point)).

For those of you worried about the math, let's say you get around 3000 bonus health in your item build. 1.5% of 3000 = 45 Damage, for a total of 55 on Sunfire Cape
