Every game now it seems whether the supports on my team are autofill or not they never pick an actual support, its always velkoz or lux or stuff that does alot of damage and may be strong in lane but is absolutely useless when it comes to helping the adc or the rest of the team and ive lost so many games because of a lack of tankiness or utiltiy its quite frustrating. Mid laners aren't supports and it doesn't work
Because I want to be able to take over the damage carry role if needed and I don't trust my teammates to do the job.
Because aside from all his other cc options, death is still the strongest one.
Besides, Velkoz is my absolute best champ. Would you have me play a support I rarely play just because you want tankiness?
Oh, and I do consider myself a support main. Yes, I can pull off a decent karma, nami or Morgana as well, but if I am going to tryhard - it's Velkoz.

I have played him support a lot, and my ADC usually thanks me for the easy lane.
They just free farm while I scare the crap out of the opponents.

So what do you mean by helping? I mean i play them as Support some times, and i sure as hell as much as i can. Yes they arent your typical support champions, but thats why its called Off-Meta! If you can poke the enemy team how is that not helping? If you can help get the enemy down so your adc (or anyone else for that matter) can get the kill, how is that not helping?
You really dont go into detail as to why you believe they shouldnt be able to support.
Vel'Koz is a real support. You have to understand, there's more than one type of support just like how there're more than one type of jungler. Is Vel'Koz isn't a support then Shyvana isn't a jungler.
I get antsy when I see a Lux support and really on edge when I see Veigar, Vel'Koz and Brand.
Now, I play Zilean Support all of the time, but he at least has some really good utility skills.
There's more than one type of support. Just because I like Soraka doesn't mean everyone does. Plus after playing "supporty" (for lack of a better term) support heroes most of my games, I can see why Lux, Vel'Koz, etc. would be a good choice. They're the "I've lost my last 5 games in a row because someone besides me was a non-support in bot lane with the ADC and I had to go top (not a great place for a squishy hero with no mobility), or because my ADC was a moron that didn't respect turret boundaries" of support heroes.
I play Vel'Koz and gte most teamdmg. That's why.

Lux is a good support champ. Velkoz is trolly but lux is a support/mage. She has a good kit, and her shield is great in teamfights. Mikaels and Censer on Lux are OP.
