Thresh isn't melee

Why does relic shield work on him again? There is really no reason for it, he's already overloaded. I don't understand why he is given every possible advantage. I guess I just don't think creating exceptions that serve no purpose other than to give a champion that is already picked with a high frequency additional advantages is a good design choice.

Relic Shield doesn't work on him, technically.

Relic Shield can proc off of ANY ranged champion. only the execute part doesn't work when you're ranged. If you still get the last hit, however, a nearby ally gets the benefits.

Thresh uses Relic Shield because his Flay passive makes it much easier to last hit a minion than other ranged supports like Annie and Janna, and it fits with his semi-tanky build.

Uhh. ANY champion can proc relic shield. The part that is melee only is the execute. Any ranged champion can get the relic shield stacks to proc IF they last hit the minions. As it so happens, thresh's E passive makes it easier for him to last hit minions as a ranged support, therefore relic shield is a viable option on thresh. Bard can technically make use of it too, but that means missing out on using Meeps for poke, just like thresh misses out on a fully charged E for poke.

Any ranged champion can use relic shield, they just can't use the execute passive.

If you read it carefully, the execute+melee is in one sentence. Melees specifically execute it. The second sentences implies any champion has access to it, provided they last-hit properly.

It's popular on Thresh due to his E passive and the fact he has no innate sustain.

It only works for melee's , in the EXECUTE PORTION, any ranged champion can proc it long as they get the last hit.
