Honest Opinion.

I think I'm being as honest as possible when I say this. The league community doesn't want a balanced game. As a community we've convinced ourselves that being able to instantly nuke someone is healthy gameplay. We've also convinced ourselves that every champion needs to have damage, and be able to kill an opponent. To top off both of those, as a community, we've decided that "tanks are boring" and no I'm not talking about tanks that deal damage, I'm talking about 300hp/second regen tanks.

Lets be honest with ourselves, we don't actually want balanced gameplay, we want to feel good and instantly kill the enemy, which is why we have so many balancing issues. Make it too easy to kill the enemy, and there is 0 gameplay. Make it too hard to kill the enemy and that champion doesn't see gameplay. Right now we are at a balance state where all anyone cares about is DAMAGE, DAMAGE, and DAMAGE. Every time a champion that has utility and cc the first thing that happens is people complain that they can't kill that champion. So what happens, that champion gets gutted tank wise until they are unplayable, and eventually get a damage buff so they can kill the enemy.

However, the aforementioned is the reason why the game has so many balance issues. Everything is so finely balanced around being able to nuke or get nuked that a small balance change suddenly completely upsets the balance of everything and makes it so that we start asking for nerfs, right after we just asked for buffs.

For example, we thought draven wasn't played enough, looks like he is getting a buff this patch. I give it two weeks before we ask for nerfs.... No one wants their champion to be weak, and there are only two strengths riot recognizes. CC and Damage. However, no one wants the game to be balanced around CC, so we balance it around damage.

If we want true balance we are going to need to see actual tanks, actual supports, and actually have a jungle that is risky. We also need to embrace the idea that not everything has to be hyper interactive.
