Can I get a TL:DR of why we needed autofill?
I'm generally curious as to why we even bother to have a draft pick where we pick 2 roles we main just to get stuck with the complete opposite.

Riot thinks they can bully players into positions that are less popular than others to maintain their idea of an integral queue and match making system. The result of which is a combination of dodgers, feeders, trolls, and, overall, terrible team compositions of players who are unfamiliar with their given roles or players who have no desire to even make an attempt at fulfilling the duties of said roles.
basically, during the past year Riot screwed up and a ton of players left. So ques take a long time to match, hence they figure by making even more players leave ques will match faster again.
because riot thinks we need a "support" and they have to enforce the meta.
TL;DR:
(1) Long queue times are a result of letting people "get their role" (2) Riot thinks long queue times are a problem by itself. (3) Riot believes "I am willing to wait 10 min for my role" is a lie. They probably believe this based on data and this is not out of their asses. (4) long queue times = bigger problem than "I cant get my role", therefore "get my role" has to go. (5) hence, auto-fill.
To make queue times shorter when some roles can't get filled in quick enough.
There's 4 Summoner's Rift queue's not instead of just 3, so players are being divided further than before.
Instead of Blind, Draft, Dynamic, it't now Flex, Solo, Draft, Blind.
We're also in pre-season, so less people are playing the changes.
When queues for silver/bronze elo were reaching 10+minute queue times, it was a little much.
autofill all queues, problem solved.
Basically, You should get your main two roles (say adc/toplane.) in Normal Draft Mode. Ranked though will create situations where instead of making you sit for 15 minutes they'll give you a role.
I'm not sure about your individual situation but I've never landed a role I didn't sign up for.
tl;dr - no one wants to play Support cuz "no dmg" reasons.
On a personal note as a Support Main: I always get my Main role, so I guess... thanks for that?
Do you do top/autofill
