How should a new player determine when he's ready to move from one game type or format to another?

I have read these sorts of questions, but the answers haven't been useful or well thought out. If you know where there's a good guide, please tell me.

I have been playing for 6 wks, but I've been doing some reading, just so you know where I'm coming from. :-)

It seems a progression would be (or tell if it's not) sort of like this, although I guess it depends on the person's progress.

  • Bots Intro Tutorial
  • Bots Beginning
  • Bots Intermediate
  • PvP Normal - Blind Pick
  • PvP Normal - Draft Pick
  • PvP Ranked - Draft Pick (In between Custom for practice and fun with friends)

Now, how would a player gauge if he should move to another environment - by level, which level? Number of champs he can play decently enough?

I have read stories about peole going into Normal games and then, if their team loses, being flamed for apparently not being good enoough. They actually made a girl friend of mine cry. :/ Are these people just jerks? I think that could be it. The matching system attempts to group similar skill players, so there shouldn't be that much disparity in skill level, unless the complainer is using a smurf account, in which case he's the one at fault for playing where he shouldn't and then complaining.

So, what do you guys think. How do yo decide when to go up the "leagues", so to say?

Thanks.

Don't Play Normals Until..

  1. You've learned how to CS pretty well.
  2. You have a large champion pool to play with.
  3. You know how to ping warnings, enemies, and objectives on the mini map.
  4. You are prepared to ward early and often in all lanes. Don't play ranked until
  5. You've learned how to CS very well.
  6. You have Mastered at least 3 champions per role, not lane, but role.
  7. You understand team composition.
  8. You understand that you won't always get to be the carry. You will have to play utility champs in JG, Mid, and Top from time to time.
  9. You understand your lane responsibilities. Including that you need to buy pink wards.

I would start draft for pvp and not even deal with blind pick. Its really toxic unless you have a full premade

As for ppl being jerks, yea there are some real POS that play this game. Better to just mute them than to see the toxic garbage spew from their mouth

Yeah, I've been having that same trouble myself.

Custom games of only bots are good for CS practice and being able to lane better.

Plus you learn to carry.

Whenever the fk you want . This used to be an American game where players have the freedom ans option to play whenever and however they want.

Not sure it's the same after the Chinese takeover. They legit have pay to win skins now :( soon they will offer mixrotransactions in game like eg pay 2.49 dollars at the fountain. Awesome you now have an extra 1k hp for 5 minutes.

So people should play whatever game mode they want whenever they want. Does winning or losing matter that much? I think bots are boring so I never ask new players to play with bots. I hard carry my new friends ( most important tip is to quick cast all abilities. This helps new players a lot

I switched to coop ai bots to pvp normal (blind pick) yesterday and damn people in my team got mad at me right from the start while I was asking some tips because I was new to this game mode. They were talking about reporting me as soon as the match started :( Can't believe people can be like that in unranked mode. My problem could be to not know more champions at the moment.
