Remake/Leaver Protected System: Ways to Improve the Quality of In Game experiences With Leavers.
So I just recently lost a game due to a leaver that had joined the game for like 5 minutes and left. I don't know why he left, could have been bad connection , could have been he had an emergency IRL (in real life), or it could have been that he just rage quit (Probably this one since he cussed out the team and didn't return after disconnecting.) A leaver from this point on will be identified as a person who didn't connect to the game in the first place or someone who disconnects from a game and fails to return within 5 minutes of the disconnection.
Now what I'm about to propose Is something that can drastically improve many peoples experience with leavers.
My first proposition is make remake available threw 15 minutes. With this include the ability to remake when someone disconnects from the game and not only just when someone doesn't connect in the first place. This to me seems fair since most leavers in my experiences leave in that first 10-15 minutes of the game because they think that the game is a lost cause and don't want to wait for surrender at 20. This remake would work the same as the other remake nor resulting in a win or loss for either side. Another reason for 15 minutes is because of the fact that this is not a ridiculous amount of time spent in one game. Most of the games I play in range from 45-60 minutes long this is only about a 1/4 to 1/3 of the time in game. Everyone knows that the game isn't decided in the first 15 minutes in most situations which leads to my next topic Leaver protected losses.
Leaver protected losses is something that I believe would cause people to try so much harder in a game that has a leaver and would protect people that have leavers that leave late in the game. What are leaver protected losses? They are games that don't count as losses if there is a leaver in game. This can only happen if you choose not to surrender at 20. What this does is reward players for not surrendering at 20 when they have a leaver. When you choose to complete a game with a leaver in it this prevent's that loss stat that you would receive without preventing the win from your opponent. This also allows you to fight for a win with no fear of a loss which i believe would promote better play to try and rob a full team of a "free win". Now surrendering at 20 from a leaver is no longer the first option that most teams will go to.
Another functionality that I though of as I was typing this up was a boot function. This would only be available in game and only usable on someone who has been disconnected for more than 5 minutes. What this function allows you to do is prevent people from reconnecting to the game if they have been gone for 5 minutes or more. What happens is someone chooses to boot a leaver then it goes to a vote of the remaining people in the game same a surrender where if the vote is majority the player being boot can't return to the game. Now with this you can only boot people that are disconnected.
These are some things that I believe could change the game for the better. I hope someone from Riot reads this and enjoys the idea and brings it to their superiors because I would like to see this in the game soon.
