Deaths in ranked.

Not sure how to structure this or what I'm gonna say so I'll just dive right in. I'm wondErin why riot doesn't take deaths into account more when it comes to elo and matchmaking. I think that from bronze up there should be a "death cap" on every game. Maybe in Bronze it's 15 deaths, silver 10 etc. But after a player exceeds this cap there should be penalties that grow increasingly severe. Elo could drop much quicker, for example. The aim is to get players thinking about deaths more and to discourage intentional feeding. It also would keep players from climbing to an eloquent they simply don't belong in.

Not sure how good this solution is, and I'm sure there's a ton of nuance I've left out that could make it truly effective. Just trying to get the conversation started. It's really unfortunate to get paired with "better" players only to have them feed all game long.

Regardless of my personal frustrations, people don't take dying seriously enough and it's rare to see a game without one player dying uncontrollably. It'd be nice to have a better system of calculating skill than simply games won. Right now league is just a game of dedication (play 1000 ranked games and you'll be > gold) because there's a bell curve and everyone floats somewhere around a 50% winrate.

I'd love to hear some opinions and maybe we can brainstorm or have a cool conversation. I'm just pretty frustrated with the current system. Don't even get me started on smurfing. But seriously, there are glaring problems with the game, problems that can make playing something "fun" utterly painful. These need to be addressed or league is quickly going to slip out of popularity. Far fewer new players now. Every gamer I know who doesn't play league cites the 50% win rate and reliance on other people who range from wonderful to downright hell as their reasons.

Owell, this is long so I'll stop. Peace and good luck out there guys,

You don't need artificial punishments, nor should you use them.

The goal of the game is to destroy the Nexus. It doesn't matter how.

There are good ways of doing it, there are bad ways. Doing something stupid is naturally punished. However, when someone decides that suicide-engaging/meat-shielding (read: dying a lot) or refusing to group is the way to go in a certain game, they deserve the win.

The point is, you don't need artificial punishments. Someone who always dies a lot, never groups, or never peels will never make it far. The problem solves itself. But sometimes, you need to try an unorthodox strategy, and there is no reason it should be punished.

Also: I know you're frustrated about people who die a lot. But if you're in the same Elo as uncontrollable feeders, then you're doing something wrong yourself. You might not be nearly as much of a feeder as they are, but you clearly have areas that need improvement before you can rise above them.

There are times when even pros feed like that. here's a game where imaqtpie went 0/11/3 http://probuilds.net/guide/show/NA/2244143377/64709188

adding more severe punishments for having a bad game isn't healthy gameplay at all.
