Crit Item Variety

Ok sure but why·1/14/2017, 8:35:21 PM·2 votes·287 views

I just read what someone else said about crit builds, and I've been thinking the same thing for a very long time. There really just aren't that many crit items, and even then, there just isn't that much variety.

When you look at your Average Joe Full Crit build, you come to: Two of the 20% + Damage items (Damage): item 3031 item 3508 Two of the 30% + Speed items (Speed): item 3085 item 3046 item 3087 item 3094

Now, 20% and 30% are all that exists, so you basically need two of each. Want three Speed's and one Damage? Sure, but you're do pitiful damage. You want three Damage's and one Speed? You only get 90% crit. Four or five Damage's? That's really damn expensive. Riot nerfed the crit chance on the Infinity Edge a long time ago because they didn't want people to use that build, too.

But let's look at each item that exists. item 3031 You basically need this if you actually are relying on crits, so it's a given every time. This item used to have 25% crit, but Riot wanted people to be forced into buying Speed items, too. item 3508 This item never needed to become a crit item. It was just fine before as a Life/Mana-steal item that didn't rely on crits to do everything. Riot tried changing it over to a crit item because ADC's were always getting anally prolapsed early game with no cooldown options, but that really wasn't the right path to take. item 3087 It's alright. Nothing to complain about. item 3094 THIS TRASH is something to complain about. It's the literal exact same as Statikk Skiv, with some mild range-proc. The only reason it exists is to give Statikk Shiv a small buff without actually doing anything to the Shiv. The two items's damages don't even stack, for crying out loud. I'm not saying it should be removed; well- I'm saying that when talking about diversity amongst items, there's none, here. item 3046 This item has always been a good go-to for Melee champs, who actually get close enough to use one of its two passives. It used to give 35% crit, so some idiot could buy three of these for an easy full crit fiesta. item 3085 Remember when the hurricane was made for any ranged champ? It had 70% attack speed and no crit, and its bolts didn't rely on crits to be effective. It was made for people like Teemo, and Kog'Maw, and any mage who felt like getting a Nashor's Tooth to boot. Now it's been restricted to only Crit marksmen. Sure, Teemo can still buy it. It's just not the same. Crit champs don't even need it. I can only think of a select few, like Jinx and Ashe.

There used to be much more diversity than this. Ghostblade Had 15% crit (I think, around there), which champs like Yi loved. Sword of the Divine gave 100% crit and lots of attacks speed on its active, which Garen adored. I'm sure Jhin would have loved it, too. Trinity Force had 20% crit, which champs like Talon, Gangplank and Garen loved to bits. They loved it more because it meant they didn't have to buy the Essence Reaver for their 100%. Those items right there were very diverse items that gave crit-champs so many options.

There are some items you could really return. There can still be more, newer items that you could add, too! How about a new Sheen item that deals 125% base AD and can critically strike? How about a new Tiamat item which can critically strike with Cleave? An item where critical strikes increase the champ's attack speed for a short duration? An item where crits heal for bonus health? Reduce target's armour? Grant a very short burst of massive movement speed? You're a bunch of game developers, Riot. Develop something.

TL;DR: Too few crit items lmao add more plz
