How to Nerf Annie Support without Ruining Annie Mid?

Laughing Cupcake·2/19/2015, 5:17:22 AM·3 votes·2,071 views

Annie is one of my favorite champions. I have more penta kills on this champ than any other. I do not want to nerf her mid lane awesomeness.

HOWEVER

Annie support is exasperating to play against and forces many support champions out of the game. When her stun is up, your options are

A take the stun yourself and be shot by the adc, losing a trade B let the support take the stun and be shot by the adc, losing a trade C hope she's dumb and wastes the stun on a minion or something

How to make Annie less overbearing without really nerfing her strengths? What about making her passive expire after a set amount of time. My initial thought is ten seconds. This is plenty of time to use it for zoning a little, but she can't just hold it and zone you eternally. What do you guys think?

aside from her Q being point and click i'm not sure why its a question when Nami can do the same thing with 1 Q. Its a mind game that you either win or lose.

I don't really see the problem with Annie's stun. Bot lane is all about zoning, supports especially. Thresh, Blitz and Leona zone you 24/7 as long as they've not missed their hooks in the last few seconds, you'll always want to stay out of range of Sona/Nami poke, etc. Annie is arguably one of the worse zoners because her range is shorter than that of most supports, so it's impossible for her to get in range of most supports without taking a hit to the face, whether that be an Aqua Prison, a Hymn of Valor, a Death Sentence or a Winter's Bite.

Unless your bot lane's support has no range at all (in which case Annie just has a favourable matchup which is fair), your job when laning against Annie is to punish her for trying to use her abilities on you. She shouldn't get away free for anything and she deserves the power of her stun for the risk she has to take to do her job compared to other supports.

Answer they are both fine

The same way you nerf every support with out hurting their mid lane. Drop their base damage, raise their scaling. Personally I don't feel she needs nerfs, just pick your lanes properly, and play properly depending on who counter picked who.

I don't really see any reason to nerf Annie support. I don't know that she forces anything out of the lane. Support meta is fairly wide today, and I disagree with your assessment that you can't win trades with her.

Should you wish to nerf Annie support, the passive is clearly where to go. Would suggest giving her a stack of passive only when one of her spells damages an enemy unit. No more stacking by pressing E repeatedly.

I am hesitant to give her stun an uptime as you propose because that will absolutely clobber her teamfight.

This won't work for a very simple reason. Good annie players tend to not have her stun up until they use it. Generally you sit one stack down then proc it before you go in.

I never liked support Annie. She just feels like a less Tanky Leona until they start buying items. Utilized correctly Leona can put out similar amounts of damage to Annie with no items without getting insta gibbed the moment a burst champion looks your way

Pick champions

Braum Leona Lux Blitz Morgana Zyra

w/ Exhaust

If you get some Hp or magic resis at level 6 you can walk straight up to annie and let her ult you while putting exhaust on annie to let her only do less then 50% of your hp to net your self a kill him with your ADC. - This can work up to high gold, because eventually high level ADC's will be far more deadlier.

Annie is a joke in bot lane and belongs in MID where it is safe for her. People play her to just carry late game, but if there is no late game she is useless.

Edit:

It is more of ADC/Support Combo's i fear more then any individual support. Annie doesn't have any real synergy with any adc other then KS so she is a shit support.

Example of combo's i fear seeing

Leona:Graves Sivir:Morgana Sivir:Sona Leona:Kalista

Basically any combo with higher trade potential and/or sustain

For those that like to down vote. Here are a couple of games with annie support and there are far more.

Changed Annie's passive similar to how Rylai's work:

Passive- Pyromania

On every fourth ability cast, Annie's next single target offensive ability will stun for 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 seconds.

Area of effect abilities will only stun enemies for 0.75 / 1.25 / 1.5

What if the stun loses max duration after 5 seconds if you don't use it. Refreshing when you use E.

"After every 4 spell casts, Annie's next offensive spell will stun its target for 0.75/1/1.25 seconds(at levels 1/6/11). This is increased by 0.5 seconds if used within 5 seconds of activation."

Lane Annie would feel this too, but not as badly as support. As lane Annie can quickly recharge it with Q CS'ing. Lane Annie is almost more likely to stun and run. While support Annie wants you locked down enough for the ADC to put some damage in.

Definitely no, it would destroy her mid

Plenty of supports have strong stuns, There isn't much difference between Annie AoE Stunning your team and Sona doing it...

At most you might argue that Annie does more damage with hers, in which case you should nerf the flat values even more to increase her scaling even more.

Nerf her base damages. Increase scaling.
