Do you think it's fair that some champs are harder to play then others
First i like to state that it's a good design philosophy to build champs that have depth and variety in the way they are played. Now i don't have a problem with the skill ceilings in this game but with the skill floors. You have champions like azir, anivia and LB who are great when mastered but unforgiving to new players. Whereas guys like warwick or rammus you can play half asleep. The problem with this is that it takes away a lot of motivation from playing high skill floor champs. People also tend to be fussy sometimes and may scold you for choosing a certian champ. Now i know counter argument to this. Higher skill floor champs do the best when you hit the skill cap. However it still feels alittle disproportionate
Here is an example: Zed and lee sin
Both of these guys have high skill caps but on a objective level and mechanical level starting as zed is much easier than lee sin. On the mechanical level lee sin has to rotate between attack move and abilities. The former is particularly hard at first if you are in a fight and like riven your not at your potential if you don't AA well. Next his Q is such a important part of his kit both as a gap closer and to burst yet it has such a small width and moderately long cd at early stages. Finally his wardhop starts off as a hassle because you not only need item management but a point click 2 button press. On the other hand zed has a easier escape, Q that cuts through minions with a greather width and is a easier champ to burst with. On the objective side lee sin requires having knowledge of how to jungle. Hes only really effective when you can snowball lanes. This means bieng able to gank and not miss your q and having wards or good intuition of where the enemy jungler is. If you die once early and didn't get gold in return like a kill you loss alot of your early game power. Hes very squishy too early so that's entirely possible during a 2v2. As for zed he is a very strong laner with good pokes and a ult that serves as both offense and defense allowing him to kill someone while staying safde. Also if your worried about your match up you can get away with turret farming on him.
You can also think about champs with low skill floors that are/were competitive as a example jarvan, malphite, tristana, jinx, darius, reksai ect.
The point is the gap between skill floor seems too wide between some champions. I would advocate that in future releases and rework riot tries to make kits more diverse and complicated rather than do something like dumb down challenging kits. They can also make it so certian roles aren't too much harder than others early game jungler vs tank laner as a example.
