How did you get out of bronze?

NOHITDETECTIO2K·6/5/2017, 11:12:55 PM·4 votes·1,356 views

I swear, I rotate between Bronze III and Bronze IV. I try my absolute hardest, I can't seem to find a groove to propel myself out of Bronze. I win 3 then lose 4..etc..then the demotion. I have enough knowledge of the game to atleast get out of bronze, i think I'm just missing a key concept at this level.

To anyone who was bronze, what was your strategy for getting out? What technique did you employ that almost always worked in your favor?? If you're currently in bronze, not a smurf, what's propelling you forward and onwards to silver? I hope to hear tips that I can apply in other divisions as well, since the road doesn't end after completing bronze. But one step at a time.

Make sure the side lanes are pushed before going back to each ARAM of mid/late-game.

Remember farm is very important, do not get caught up in all of the random fights that happen every 20 seconds.

Never, ever play supp in bronze. Back in the days I used Lissandra to get out. I played lots of normals to learn her, then I onetricked my way out of bronze easily.

Climbed from Bronze 5 to Silver, currently Silver 3 60 LP as of this post. It's going so well that I might actually have a shot at Gold. Also managed to climb to Silver 5 last season. Reached Silver 4 in the pre-season.

Shortest answer, I stopped playing champions I couldn't maintain a higher than 50% win rate on in over 50 games. Last season that was Azir, Kayle and I think Irelia, this season, it's only Kayle. I played nothing but Kayle non-stop. Got out very easily. Sitting at SIlver 3 right now, if I started playing other champions, no doubt, I'd fall back into Bronze in no time.

Why do I have a higher win-rate with Kayle and not other champions? Well it's sure as shit isn't because she is broken. It's because I played the shit out of her over two seasons. I know every single match in top and mid lane. I know which champions I can bully and which champions I can't. Though I still lose lane from time to time, I almost never feed. You'd rarely see me going shit like 1-5 in lane. This comes from knowledge of all possible match-ups. And even on rare occasion when I do go 1-5 in lane, I know EXACTLY what I need to do to get myself back in the game. I've lost count of the many games where I lost lane or even fed and still carried late game. It's because I know her so well, I just know when and how to take control of a game with her. I lack this knowledge on other champions which is why I can't maintain a 50% or above win-rate on them.

So in summary, champion knowledge is the main thing that will help you. You need to have that one champion that you love and know everything about and spam the shit out of them. If over a hundred games you can't get 50% or above win-rate on them, drop that champion, if you like the champion and want to stick with them, spam them in normals until you're sick of them. You will eventually get good enough on that champion to carry more games. Doesn't matter what role or champ, even supports. I had a buddy that climbed from Bronze to Gold playing nothing but Thresh because he was just that good at him.

Other general tips.

  • Learn to last hit properly.

  • Don't follow your team into stupid shit like 3v5s. Let your team die if you have to. Learn to pick your battles and do not give into noob calls by your team mates simply because you're afraid they might call you bad. Example, two of your team mates based, and you have no vision on any of the enemy team's members, and your remaining two mates call for baron. It's a bad call. Don't follow. Let them die to their stupidity by themselves.

  • [VERY IMPORTANT] Don't speak. One thing a couple duo mates of mine have picked up on is how little I speak in games. Don't get me wrong, I still get tilted and a bit toxic from time to time but 90% of the time, I don't speak in games except to say shit like, "gj" or "gg wp". Speaking distracts you from playing. Getting into arguments, takes your focus off the game and you play horribly without even realizing it. Stop that. If your team mates give you shit for whatever reason, SAY NOTHING. I get all kinds of shit in games. People call me trash, noob, etc all the time. I almost never answer them. Or if I do answer, it's usually very curt but I don't get into debates. Example, today I had a particularly bad team that kept getting caught out. They all decided to gang up on me for not being in team fights. I wasn't there because I needed to farm my items and get strong, especially as the enemy team was being fed. One of them said I wasn't ulting our AD Carry in the few team fights I did join in on, and only ulting myself. I gave a simple, curt answer, "I don't ult useless people". They went apeshit of course, but I didn't say a single thing after that. Come late game, I single handily won the last two crucial team fights and won us the game. My focus was on winning, not arguing. Moral of the story, don't distract yourself by getting into a war of words with noobshits in ranked games. Trust that you know what you're doing and ignore everyone else. No one and I mean NO ONE in Bronze 4 is qualified to call anyone bad. You won't realize just how bad Bronze is until you're at least mid Silver. Why should you even pay them any mind. Ignore them, Play YOUR game.

  • Solo as much as possible. While a lot of people will say get a duo mate you can trust, if you're a one trick like me, it will hurt you more. This is because chances are, your duo mate wants to play your best role. If you take it, he has to play something he is not so good at, if he takes it, you will have to play something you're not that good at. If you're gonna duo, duo with someone who plays another role and someone who is good at whatever role it is. No point in playing with someone who dies 13 times every other game. Small tip: If you play a high damage role/champ(mid, ADC or something like Jayce top) and you ever get a good Thresh to duo with, take it. Good Thresh players are just sooo good for getting fed when you main a carry champ. Caveat: If you're equally good at multiple roles, you can ignore this tip, but still, don't duo with baggage(feeders, people that tilt easy etc)

  • Expect to lose games. It doesn't matter how good you are, you will lose games, sometimes even many games in a row. Accept that as a natural part of climbing. Not even challenger players can get a 100% win-rate in Bronze, why should we expect different of ourselves.

  • [VERY IMPORTANT] Take short breaks after losing two or more games in a row. I recently picked up this habit and realized that I no longer get long losing streaks. I can't say why but it probably has something to do with how the human mind works. Maybe it needs rest. I don't know but it works. Taking breaks after losing will significantly reduce the amount of lose streaks you go on. It won't stop it completely. There are times you will get utter trash teams seven times in a row and no amount of breaks will stop it. But taking a break ensures that you aren't the one responsible for throwing those games by playing while frustrated or exhausted.

Anyways, that's it for now.

Don't try to climb out of Bronze as support. I'm a support main and wish more people appreciated the role, but honestly, it just seems dreadful to try to pull off when your ADCs can't be reliable.

Kr1sys6/6/2017, 3:15:53 AM1 votes

You can't climb out of bronze as support, you have to play a carry role. That being said, when you are playing a non-support role your CS is terrible.

Lapis6/6/2017, 3:25:20 AM1 votes

I'm still in bronze, but this season I've gone from sitting at bronze 5 at 0lp to bronze 2, so I'm climbing a bit. I've been doing it as a support, but my advice applies to any role. First piece of advice: try not to die. I know that seems super obvious, but it's something I had to improve on so I'll mention it. If it's risky, don't do it, even if you think a kill might come out of it or something. You gotta play safe. I've been getting some flame for playing passive or scared from my teammates, but honestly, it's really helped my winrate. Second piece of advice: Map awareness is key. Look at your minimap, ward like hell, know what your team is doing and what the enemy is doing. I have a tendency to tunnelvision sometimes and ignore the rest of the map, but knowing what's going on during a game is just so so helpful.

i think sion was the champ to get me out of bronze, very easy to play and his CC is extremely useful in teamfights.

playing support to climb out of bronze is very possible, no matter what the others say. pick a tank with cc in their kit and you will find climbing easier.

carry champs are picked all the time in bronze, and in my experience, no one picked champions to compliment those champions.

my tier list for bronze (im s5 so im shit, though this is what worked for me)

Janna/S+++++++ (nothing to say, her kit is so simple yet effective) Sion/S+ (shit ton of cc, shut down the enemy carry instantly w/ ult) Hecarim/S (tilt enemy by getting lanes ahead early) Shen/A+ (usually reliant on team) Taric/B+ (in the dumps, needs buffs because one of his abilities does nothing)

Carries

Fizz/S+ (Easy to play, and easy to snowball) Master Yi/S+ (Easy to play, very strong) Nasus/S (Weak early, though stack well and just split and you will win) Draven/S- (High skillfloor, don't really recommend unless you're willing to learn him) GP/S- (Same as Drav)

Most (with the exception of gp and draven) are easy to learn and carry games, even as support.

feel free to comment other tierlists, this is my own and this is what works for me.

Climbed from Bronze 3 to Gold 5 in season 2 by maining protective supports (Janna and Soraka). Should still work, they're both so easy and effective maining them should be considered a form of elo boosting. Just peel for your adc and you should start winning games very easily.

Tobias Brackner6/6/2017, 7:45:06 AM1 votes

Mute the team and communicate/ping often.

Ward up and watch the minimap.

Focus on playing a few champs, bonus points if they can fill multiple roles/lanes.

Focus on making good plays and calls instead of winning. Your team will derp often, so it's best to ignore them as much as you can.

Supporting is an easy way to climb out of bronze if you're comfortable with your ability to outplay other bronzies. Many people in the lowest echelons of play don't do it properly--they never grab sighstone/place wards properly, they do an abysmal job peeling for/setting up kills for their lanemate and they are generally queued by less confident players who don't have the fundamentals down when it comes to trading properly or pairing the right champ witht their ADC--and in playing the role well you can basically turn the match into a 4v5 (or even a 3v5 if you shut the enemy ADC down hard enough) and win more games.

Bard with item 2301item 1001item 3100item 3115 gets 40-45% CDR, a broad enough mana-pool to stay in lane for quite awhile, a HUGE damage rotation to supplement your ADCs', kill setups, great mobility, wall-hopping, a nice little heal.....the whole nine yards. He is an extremely-well-rounded support who is great to learn with, and seldom a terrible choice, so he can be played and practiced with a lot. Branching your champion-pool outward to fill other niches, champions who excel at one or two roles in particular like LeonaKarmaNami can be extremely polarizing picks, and understanding when to pick each can make all the difference in terms of pissing off your opponent and getting the upper-hand.

The last thing you want to do is play Blitz/Thresh every game, because if the enemy ADC/support is deadset on climbing via playing that role they are probably well-aware of the pros and glaringly-obvious cons associated with picking either. Good luck!

Being one of the oldest players in this community i can say consistency is key to improving yourself. (Look at it like Muscle memory) That's usually my only problem. Took an couple days off league came back played Jinx garbage in lane, low cs and missed 2-4 rockets. (We called that Rusty and busy AF).

Akali Counters each other out LOLAnnie Amumu only focusMasterYi TahmKench can literally save games.

Azadethe6/23/2018, 5:38:43 AM1 votes

You need to become proficient with a hypercarry who bronze/silver do not know how to cope with.

Like.... Zed XinZhao Vayne Warwick Tryndamere Shaco Pantheon Kayn Irelia JarvanIV Camille Kaisa

Any of these champs is toxic enough in any low elo game that they generally can win more than 50% simply with some moderate experience with them. Once they get on snowballs, they generally don't stop and Bronze behavior does the rest. After you get a snowball started..... you just don't stop. You farm on the way to an objective but thats it. You go for kills..... not dive kills necessarily. but starvation pressure kills and punish anyone caught solo.

You used to be able to climb as a support. Now you have to be a hyper carry support to do it. Like a Gold tier Nami player to get beyond 50-51% in bronze hyper. Hyper carries are the safer bet and will go faster.

Edit: This is a necro thread :S

i spammed rammus jungel

WitchQueen Annie6/5/2017, 11:55:03 PM1 votes

I spammed Rammus and Amumu JG with some Annie mid and support (full damage support). Extremely aggressive roam/Gank heavy playstyle.

It was a long time ago though so I'm not sure said tactics will work now.

Once in Silver, I've found that playing Renekton top and spamming Vladimir works better.

i started out bronze this season. i made it to silver in around 35 games and to gold in a little less then 200. heres my 2 cents

  1. spam a low number of champions. no more then 3. 2.the best roles to carry are mid/jung imo but you can climb with anything. 3.focus on improving yourself.
  2. focusing on farming and staying alive 5.if there is even a small chance your tilted stop playing .

thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

HlkT6/6/2017, 12:19:05 AM1 votes

You could be good at and enjoy 15 characters. But you could be great or amazing at one or 2 if you focused all your energies onto perfecting one role/one champ at a time that you have success at a competitive level with. Not everyone is good enough play at a high level with many different characters/roles, imo.
