quick thoughts on the patch

  • Games are faster. i actually like this; but, they are a bit too fast. I regularly see level 10s taking inhibitors (seems a tad soon...). Often you are only 1.5-2 completed items in and the game is nearing completion. Full-build has never been a common thing, but this takes a bit of the enjoyment away from putting together a build. Anyway, a slightly longer average game time I think could do wonders for how games feel. Stomps are a little too stompy.

  • In the past, a viable strategy has been to get a lead, and then slowly starve out your enemy while you increase your lead little by little. 40+ minute games of attrition can get tiresome. However, now this strategy is basically completely unnecessary. It can still work, but takes on more risk by allowing your opponent to get back in the game rather than just taking your lead and smashing down turrets. Still, I think turrets falling so easily makes the game a bit too snowbally; it would make games feel more competitive if comebacks were more in reach.

  • All this said, let's give it some more time. If games do in fact snowball more easily, it becomes ever more important to play cautiously and not giveaway unnecessary deaths. You really lose a lot. It might make for better players. You died twice in 5 minutes? well, you're gonna have a bad time...
