Rift Scuttler is really screwing up my Teemo play

Teemo is my favorite champion, and my favorite way to play him used to involve heavily lacing a contested area with Mushrooms (usually Baron pit). Since we now have a little guy that randomly walks around there detonating my shrooms, it makes it hard to set up a defensive trap.

While It is easy to shroom around the the path of the Scuttler, his random movements (both after spawn and upon taking any form of damage) mean that using those alleyways is an unreliable way to play the game. You more then likely won't get to use them as a trap against another player - just a crab that will rapidly regenerate its health after it plows through most of your other mushrooms. Unlike a similar gameplay change (like the addition of the Wight camp), the Scuttler is not something a Teemo player can really play around other then avoiding those choke points.

The same is true with Shaco players - the scuttler means that they lose access to some of their defensive JitB's. And these mechanics already weren't that hard to counter - you could shut them down with a free item and a relatively cheap upgrade.

A simple change would fix this - make the Scuttler immune to the effects of stealthed traps.

I thought you were going to say that the crab has taken your place as a human ward in front of baron/dragon.

We choose this day, to give thanks to our savior: The Scuttler Crab, for making the river a better place.

+1... I play a fair amount of Teemo and have a very difficult time shrooming Baron and Dragon because of that little bugger. Maybe Riot can make it so that the scuttlers can't trigger shrooms.

Solution: Every time you think you want to play Teemo, instead go fuck yourself.

Since Teemo is Satan and the Scuttler Crab is messing with him than... oh my God... All hail the sacred Scuttler Crab!

upvote for the dark lord and savior. Teedo.

I once had a Teemo who warded the entire river from the side of baron pit to the blue exit.

There was a little pathway where the scuttler had been, in which the enemy team walked right through.

That is, until Nami went the other way.

Good. All is according to plan.

I play a lot of Teemo too, and I have found that if you place the shroom further into the Baron camp than you typically would, the scuttler crab won't set it off unless it gets attacked from a certain angle right in front of the camp... so in short, it will stay there 98% of the time. For the bush in the top river right by toplane you can shroom a bit closer to the center of the bush in order to avoid the crab there too.

The only strategic place I used to shroom but I can't now are the small round bushes in the middle of top and bottom river... it's a shame, and a slight "nerf", or general disadvantage, to Teemo.

I'm more than satisfied with this.

You got me in at "Shaco"

Scuttler is also kind of a buff to champions like Lee Sin that can jump to enemies. Annoying.

dafrorock12/12/2014, 10:56:24 AM2 votes

i agree, nerf teemo

Oleandervine12/11/2014, 3:32:35 AM2 votes

I see a LOT of people whining about the crabs ruining Teemo. Teemo is still as strong as ever, so kinda sorta stop trying to claim persecution when something thwarts him.

That, and the EASIEST fix is to not shroom the entire f*ing river. Just ward the jungle entrances. They're invisible, so it's not like they need the brush to function.

ImHerVoice12/11/2014, 10:10:50 AM2 votes

wheres the comment about being a ward.

what the fuck OP LOL

Frenzied Dragon12/12/2014, 6:07:06 AM2 votes

Honestly, I think that is an awesome thing. Teemo needs a serious counter, his shrooms are so so annoying and OP that it is just frustrating to play against him and not very fun. The only time I have fun against a Teemo is when he sucks because then I can actually do something instead of being blown up all the time. Every Champion has a counter and needs one, now Teemo actually has one thank goodness. I can sleep well tonight knowing the spawn of Satan can be stopped finally. All hail Rek' Sai! RekSai

Scuttler crab gets a lot of hate in general. Very few people actually like him because of how obnoxious he is to kill for how little he gives.

FarRockBF12/11/2014, 1:14:24 PM2 votes

Definitely seems like something that Rito should fix.

Zanathax12/11/2014, 3:01:15 AM2 votes

It's entirely possible that this is intentional. It actually wouldn't surprise me.

H3lianthus5/13/2016, 10:53:15 PM1 votes

Agree. It really does take away any possible strategic play around the major objectives and even takes away part of defensive placement. The only solution would be killing crab and then placing traps for shorter time coverage, but since Teemo has no cc he can't reduce defensive stats of the crab and it becomes unworthy of time (For killing it you won't be using the mushrooms as it loses the purpose) you would be left with less charges. , you can't start placing traps before you kill it to recharge more - because the'll get destroyed. So in a way there is a way around it , but that way it's incredibly unaffective.

ModUlanopo12/11/2014, 11:44:29 AM1 votes

Teemo and Shaco already have to consider lane minions when placing mushrooms. The presence of the Scuttle Crab simply extends this to a small portion of the jungle... Oh noes.

SuperSourCat12/11/2014, 6:16:31 PM1 votes

Please let him pop your mushrooms cause Teemo is annoying as hell. Fun Fact: 23 Teemos die a second

Dark Topline12/12/2014, 3:14:17 AM1 votes

I hadn't thought of that, and honestly being primarily a Nasus main I'm rooting for the crab ;) Up until now anyways. I'd like to hear from Riot on whether or not they knew about this and whether or not it was all intentional. In my opinion, I understand where you're coming from and I would personally support this change.

Just made same thread and got downvoted. GD is weird. Anyhow, yeah I love playing Teemo but this is just unfair.
