AP changes in patch 5.22

So how will AP champions play now that a whole bunch of AP items became a lot more expensive?

Morellonomicon, Rabadon's Deathcap, Luden's Echo, and Zhonya's (ESPECIALLY Zhonya's) got totally gutted in this patch. They gotten so much more expensive to the point where they're no longer good early-game buys.

On the other hand, Rod of Ages, WotA, Abyssal Scepter, Nashor's Tooth and Lich bane got buffed.

Archangel's staff and Athene's Unholy grail saw barely any change.

All the rest of the AP and MP items has gotten $100 to $200 more expensive.

I find the Zhonya change very noteworthy, because it's the only item out of the set that I'm comfortable to say that it got completely and utterly destroyed. The price increased AND it lost a good 5 armor. This affects midlaners, but it also effects champions like support Morgana who needs the gold in order to function well in teamfights. Even seeker's armguard got nerfed pretty heavily.

So how does this affect AP playstyle now? What I think is, Tear + RoA would be a better build now (it gives tankiness and a whole bunch of mana), given that Rabadon's' price has increased to the point where it's now one of the only gold inefficient AP items without the AP from the other items. Rushing Rabadon's will no longer be a viable option.

Champions that build Athene's first would be unaffected. Champions that build Morellonomicon may have to switch to Athene's because its price has increased by a lot relative to Athene's. Champions that build Nashor's tooth + Lich bane will see a buff in their playstyle relative to other AP champions.
