3-2 and the Tyranny of the Minority; Please Surrender!

3/5 = 60% In the US senate, that is called a super-majority. Now I get it, if the threshold to surrender a game is reduced to 3 yes votes, then it may happen more than we would like. Since we do not have 100 people on a team, our only other options for requiring more than 3 vote, are 4 or 5 votes. However, allowing the minority to prevent a surrender just shifts the problem to the other end of the spectrum. You could be in a game that wastes the time of three people because one troll and one 'high'-ly optimistic person want to have a good time and think the game can be won respectively.

Since I know I am going to hear crap like 'oh you just want to surrender too soon' or whatever other lame criticisms of quitters are, lets look at the numbers. I was not able to find the average surrender times, but I was able to find the rates for different regions. Classically someone tells me when trying to surrender that it is reflective of low ability or that one can't improve that way or about the 1 game in the last 15 they tried to turn around that they actually won. Koreans are supposed to be the best players, lets not beat around the bush here, you all know that we all think it, so here are their surrender rates compared to ours. IF SURRENDERING IS SO BAD WHY DO KOREANS SURRENDER MORE THAN WE DO?

        Surrender Rates
                            NA KR

Bronze 12.3% 24.20% Silver 13.6% 25.70% Gold 14.9% 26.80% Platinum 15.6% 27.10% Diamond 16.6% 26.00% Master 19.9% 29.90% Challenger 16.70% 26.60%

Solution: After a set number off surrender attempts by a team, the threshold to surrender is reduced to 3 yes votes. Remember, 3 min between each vote!

I'd rather not reduce the surrender vote. People tend to give up to easily, imho. Early on that 7-2 lead is bad, but then there be shut down gold and late game monsters, mid game deleters and excellent dragon baron fights. Just me, i'm here to play and get better, I learn much more from playing the under-champ.

This one again? Okay, so you don't like games you don't immediately stomp. Sorry, man.

Riot sucks at dealing with trolls, but they sure aren't about to hand you guys more privilege to screw over other people who just want to play the game.

Difference between Koreans and us 'MURICANS(obligatoryFUKYEA)

NA: Dumb enough to put one's self in a hole, but at the same time, even when a team has a lead, they always have a chance to throw it because usually, NA people get cocky and arrogant, and can get the game to draw out more, or make a stupid move. NA is full of that (stupid) "NEVER GIVE UP" sentiment, but at the same time, we can afford it because our schedules are more open and less demanding.

KR: A team with a lead is usually not going to throw their lead; these people know how to close out a game cleanly, and the other team will know it once they see it, thus they surrender/open a lane if it isn't 20 minutes yet. Koreans' schedules are also more closed, so usually, these people want to squeeze in as many games as possible before moving onto their demanding schedules.

You all that say it's too low to make it 3-2 are missing the nuance. This is how MANY 3-2 votes before you all that vote 'no' are just 2 assholes ruining it for the 3 others. You all are assuming that the trolls are always in the party of 3. YES FFS we have all experienced a turnaround game, but for every one of those there are at least 10 more that we could have saved time on, and when you add that up through a year, that adds up to a lot of lost LP in games that were never played. A whole lot more than the LP won in the 10% of games that you turn around. If you all disagree then get back to playing and get off my post! If you come back and say more, then YOU are the troll, not ME, I don't come slam your ideas.

I've been one of two people resisting surrenders and winding up carrying the game to victory. More commonly, I've also been one of three pessimists trying to surrender that wind up getting carried by the two holdouts.

League is a swingy game. I think a 4/5 requirement to surrender makes sense because of that.

I already dislike it that people will surrender potentially winnable games because 'they're not having fun', and that's with the current 4-1 voting and I am the 1 voting against that. Kinda wish surrender votes didn't exist because I'd rather people actually learned to play from behind and get better at the game instead of going 'fuck this' and surrendering once their opponents are ahead (or they are shutdown because they failed in lane; literally had surrender vote calls from people like that when we were ahead on kills and winning because they weren't having fun....)

Plus FFS please keep this about the issue, if you disagree then why are you wasting your time commenting, vote or GTFO.
