Riot has access to a lot of data. Why is the Matchmaking so horrible?
I need real answers from real Riot employees. Enough of the cover ups, broken promises, and openly worded Summoner's Code. Tell players the truth. We'll respect you more.

Because even with that data, there is no way to compensate for:
Individual champion skill of a player - especially since picks happen after matchmaking.
Fred having 3 beers before playing
Counterpicks and matchups in general
Also, queue times are long enough already, the tighter they make matchmaking, the longer they get - especially for higher rank player.
New players also take a while to stabilize ELO/MMR, until they they drift aimlessly.
They added autofill.
They force trolls on your team if you win too much.
They refuse to calculate CC into loses and how your team refuses to followup.
They used to give you loses when it was 1 v 5 and remake wasn't an option.
They don't wish to reveal their MMR system because they know they will get trashed on, maybe for lying.
With so many players quitting they have like 4 players from each elo playing at once so it's inevitable
Kappa
Because autofill has a 40% chance of hitting bot lane.
To make it short, because people suck.
Because you haven't taken a statistics class to understand simple things like standard deviation. Seems like a personal problem to me.
Computers aren't miracle workers.
Because as we saw with the champion grading system, none of that data is enough to properly judge individual skill better than mmr.
It really isn't that riot does not have any data. The thing is that mmr is much better than what people give it credit for from a matchmaking perspective. Obviously stuff like champion balance and problems with the meta will create imbalanced matches which no matchmaking system can fix but that is a different issue.
