Another issue (reffering to pace of the game )

Is the fact that by the time the game usually ends ( ~ 30 mins marks), in the 10-15 games i have played, i barely have 3 items. No matter how fed i am I thought this game is supposed to end when you are at least finishing your final build... why do we have so many items after all ?
