Promos and bad match making

I'm sure this has been beaten like a dead horse but can someone explain the logic behind allowing you to be grouped with unranked first time players during your promos? Not for nothing its not really fair to have someone who hasn't played ranked before end up losing your promo because they don't know what they are doing.
