Ganking for a Yorick

I am not taking the blame off myself or making any excuses for my bad play, but I have been noticing something that irritates me a lot. My jungler comes to gank and its either incredibly unsuccessful in that we both die or they get away with us losing more HP than they did. Rarely does a gank go right for me, but when they do go right, there is a lot to gain from it since Yorick is capable of taking a turret incredibly fast and easily. So it is important for both players to know what the other is capable of doing.

(I understand that he is still somewhat new and that he hasn't quite been introduced fully into the meta for all elos, but I believe you should have at least some knowledge on what a champion can do. Specially if you are the jungler.)

I am not going to flame anyone or blame the jungler, because honestly if we both die it means we both made a mistake, i should have just let you die by yourself or pinged you back. However I do want to lay down some knowledges on you for the next time you play with a Yorick.

First I want to start with his Passive, the ghouls he spawns are a huge part of his dueling power, or at least they are how I play him. So if I don't have my ghouls up, a large part of my strength is gone. I can use all my abilities, and they are strong on their own, but without my Ghouls I am not as strong. So if you come to gank for a Yorick, look to see if he has Ghouls because if he does your gank is more likely to be successful. If not it might not be a bad idea to just wait around and wait for them to come up or just leave. It depends on his opponent but Yorick does seem to struggle against champions like Irelia, Jax, Renekton, and Tryndamere (who are commonly picked against him along with Teemo). So he will need some help against them, just remember that a large part of his strength is his Ghouls.

Next I want to talk about his W, there is a slight delay and an indicator for where it will spawn. Don't wait around for me to land it, its fairly easy to see and get out of, specially champions with gap closers (like those i mentioned above). Use your CC or displacements accordingly, if you can CC them to keep them in place for it to land, or knock them into it, the chances of killing them skyrocket. Too many times I have misjudged when my jungler will use their CC/Displacements or vice versa and we end up "getting in each others way". It is normally up to the laner to begin the gank, so try to wait for Yorick to use his W and, like i said, act accordingly. Plus it doesn't always need to land, sometimes just slightly changing their paths can lead to their deaths. Don't give up immediately if it doesn't land.

Yoricks next ability is his E, this ability is incredibly strong as a form of CC, damage, and utility with his Ghouls/Ult. This ability does have a weird hit box and projectile type, so it is not the easiest thing in the world to hit. Don't rely on Yorick hitting this ability, in most cases its better to use it after landing his W or your own CC/displacement. Other than that, there is not much to mention about it.

His ultimate is a very powerful ability when used correctly. This is something I am still practicing with, I have issues of using it too soon and it dies before I do enough damage, or using it too late where I die and it doesn't do much. I don't know what to say about it other than I am still learning how to properly use it and anyone who plays Yorick a lot, I would love advice on ways to use it other than pushing.

So that covers my issues with Junglers ganking, it was getting to the point where i wanted to begin a game asking them to stay out of my lane. It is not entirely their fault, like i said, I hold a large portion of blame, but if you want to gank a Yorick you can't expect him to just be at 100% and ready. He is weaker early game as far as dueling goes, losing to most top laners until he gets tanky enough to survive their damage and dish out his own.

Also when playing on a team with him in general, if you want him to split push you need to give him the chance to do so. He can't just throw his ult into a lane and boom it wins the game. It requires teamwork and coordination or else they will just go and kill it quickly (it is not super strong by itself) and come back in time to clean up a teamfight. He is a great front liner when he is tanky because he can single out an enemy with his W and E. However I know that CS is important, but like I said his Passive is a huge part of his kit. You need to let him get 3 ghouls if you want him to be at 100% for a teamfight.

If anyone has advice on builds, runes/masteries, and just in general on how to play Yorick i would appreciate it greatly.
