Yasuo against ranged mid-laners, Start Q or E?
So I play Yasuo quite a lot in the mid lane, I almost always start Q at level 1, then max E afterwards, but one of my friend said he like to start E against ranged champions and Q against melee, so I want to create a discussion about this. My friend's argument is that by starting E, you can E to the minion near your enemy at level 1, auto attack him to trade and if he run away you E on him, AA one more time then E back to safety. He said most of the time you can out trade your lane opponent if he's ranged AP and you start E. But I like to start Q because:
- If you start E you will have a hard time last-hitting, you can only go near the minions and auto attack them in order to last hit, or E them, resulting in you going out of position. In both cases you probably gonna get poked hard by enemy AA and abilities.
- Starting Q not only allows safer last-hitting, but also offers zoning potential, most of the times when my tornado is up my lane opponent would back off and walk back and forth. Thus resulting in me zoning him. Now i have a few options : i. Launch my Q to try and harass my lane opponent ( 30% success rate) ii. Keep my Q to zone him as long as possible ( most likely resulting him losing cs) iii. Launch my Q toward a large group of minions ( resulting in me getting EXP quicker than my lane opponent. Thus allowing me to get to level 2 faster than him.) All of the 3 options above provide some sort of benefits. I do think that at Level 2 yasuo hits a pretty strong power spike, most of the time the enemy mid laner is forced to play passive when yasuo reaches level 2.
Now that's my opinion on why I like to start Q on yasuo even against ranged champions. Which one do you start and why? Discuss! Btw I'm only Gold V so i would love to hear any suggestions and opinions from high elo players
