Question about Azir

I've noticed that when Azir autos a beam extends from his staff to his target in a way that's very similar to Vel'koz' autos. Neither of their auto attacks are blocked by Yasuo's Windwall.

I've heard that Vel's count as melee even though his autos don't look exactly like it. Is Azir melee as well. For Vel I take the "Double-Edged Sword" mastery because he does so much aoe damage in teamfights. If Azir also counts as melee this would benefit him as well.

So, do Azir's autoattacks counts as melee in the same way that Vel'Koz' do?

Azir, Kayle while her E is active, Thresh, and Vel'koz are all ranged champions that don't use projectiles with their basic attacks. Because of this they can ignore Wind Wall and Unbreakable with them.
