Riven Late Game Viability

Hey guys,

I wanted to inquire about Riven's late game viability.

In season 7 I climbed from Silver 3 to Plat 5 mainly with Sona and Irelia and Akali. The reason I succeeded with these picks is that I know how to carry with them at all stages in the game (early, mid and late). Especially with ones like Sona and Irelia who are late game monsters. So even if a lane feeds or we start out behind in general, I can still use the not-give-up and wait till 6 items to turn the situation around. (Especially with AP Sona; I love that build).

Riven looks like a lot of fun to learn but I'm wondering about her ability to "come back" if behind. I don't really like champs who are on a timer to win. I like the option to farm it up or even just be viable in teamfights. Is Riven able to do this or is she too snowball dependent?

NOTE: I just achieved Mastery 7 with Zed, and I find him very easy to come back from if behind. I find him incredibly useful late game for split pushing and even teamfights due to building 40% CDR so he can duel multiple targets well.

Is Riven the same as that? If I fall behind and build max CDR, can I still fight through a teamfight?

Thank you!

Riven has decent comeback if the game goes long enough. If your good with her she can still be fairly useful from behind. Due to top lane mechanics and champions tho it's incredibly unlikely that your gonna be dueling your lane opponent if your behind tho. The problem is that in order to reach a state where you can weather a storm and come back your looking at a 300-500 game investment on her. I have 500k mastery points on her with probably around 1000 games on this account and I still feel like a bonobo sometimes. I would say that if you have the time and desire to learn her, she is one of the most rewarding champions to master.
