"Why Do You Like ARAM and Blitz?"

I actually get asked fairly often why it is that my primary mode now days is ARAM, and now Blitz despite how much balancing the mode needs. The answer is pretty simple, though there are a few reasons:

  • I don't care enough about the game to study the Meta, watch a bunch of videos (I like playing, not watching people play), or anything else really. Never claimed to be a Diamond+ player, and to be fair I've never really wanted to be. What I lack in the metagame knowledge I make up for in reaction time, grasp of champion mechanics, and ability to play most anything my team needs. Building on this -

  • ARAM and Blitz are far, far faster. They are mash ups of champions with skills and abilities flying everywhere. As annoying as things like Blessing of Blitzcrank and others can BE, I guarantee after a week or two of dodging that BS in Blitz you will never be grabbed by a regular Blitzcrank again. Learning to dip, duck, weave, dodge and dive are vastly easier in Summoner's Rift, and playing these two modes speeds up your ability to react.

  • Based on the above statement, you have to not only figure out the champion, but you have to do it in a narrowed down space and trying to survive. It's great team fighting training, more than teaching you to roam around and attempt to solo skill your way through games. Being amazing by yourself will only get you so far in the ranks, and if you truly want to climb properly you need to be able to operate effectively both alone and in team fights. Being as these modes are one long team fight, your understanding of skill placement and timing increases.

All in all these modes are goofy, silly, and really just for fun. However if you walk in as an assassin, and get effective with an assassin in either mode, your ability to team fight will go up naturally. Summoner's Rift team fights are far easier these past couple of years since I began dinking around in ARAM, and more recently Blitz.

I was an Ezreal One Trick for a long, long time. Then I swapped to Zed for a season. While my abilities with Ezreal and Zed still far out weigh my abilities with any other champion - I can now also play pretty much anything in Summoner's Rift to a fair degree. These modes broke me of the need to one trick.

Nexus Blitz has a balanced jungle and none of the ScuttleCrap changes that were done to SR and not to mention you can pick just about anything in the jungle and aren't limited to 5-7 "Meta" choices due to lower xp/scuttlecrap that sr has.

High damage is fun on game modes that "don't matter"

Summoners' Rift is linked to ranked and therefore even normals, which are for all intents and purposes essentially practice for ranked, is a stressful mode to play on when damage makes utility and strategy pointless.

Basically:

When there is nothing to lose, there isn't any stress. (Or at least close to none)

After reading that first sentence I can tell those asking you that question is not really privy to the normal and ranked modes. XD

honestly metagame isn't always 100% important. yes it does matter to some degree, knowing what items to look out for or what champs need to get banned because they are overpowered at the moment (and thus will cause you pain in your matches).

A good example of item meta would be Stormrazor. Technically it is a meta item right now because of the stats it gives, ironically...it is only really viably useful on 2 marksman champions (Jhin and Graves). This is due to the passive on the item and how it effects your basic attacks.

With other marksmen you are building 2-4 attack speed items, thus making part of Stormrazor useless since your attack speed is faster than the reset of its passive. Jhin and Graves however have slow attack speeds (maybe making it up to 1/aps if you build right).

A good example of champion meta is Akali. Due to how her shrowd makes her completely untargetable (even to towers) it makes her a very frequent mid and top lane pick, since she can easily harass most (if not all) champs that play those lanes.
