I am a Silver player, and I don't want to play vs (or with) Plat players

Doesn't this make sense? How is this healthy for the game? It seems silly for Riot to implement an honor system when the quality of many (if not most) of my games are ruined by poor matchmaking, which in my experience is the biggest cause of toxicity. And honestly it makes sense, getting absolutely destroyed or carried by plat players, why am I even playing the game? I wouldn't mind longer queue times if it means better quality games.

Of course my experiences are not universal, that being said this has been my experience. Seems to me this would be the single biggest thing Riot could do to reduce toxicity in games. Also I bet the high mmr players in my game hate it as much as I do, it's boring.

If plats are in your normal games, it's because you have similar normal MMR.

Less of a phobia and more of a preference, I don't play this game to get ranked, but that is a topic for a different thread.

Why do you think Rito has the system the way it does? I believe its to lower the queue timers of plat+ players.

But a huge part of Riot's goal is to legitimize League as a sport, and poor matchmaking seems to be a huge obstacle in the way of this goal. Can you imagine if Chess matchmaking was as poor as League? Lots of boring stomps.

So for someone who doesn't like playing ranked, I'm just screwed? And even when I did play ranked my MMR was so wonky I would play with mid/low gold/high plat, thus the reason I stopped ranking. Being the silver in games with low gold/high plat is just a horrible experience. Regardless, The burden shouldn't be on me to play ranked if I want good quality matchmaking (which isn't even the case).

I know a lot of people like to get destroyed (or carried) by players much higher skill than them, but I would rather have a good game that I enjoy instead of some punishing learning experience, and I believe I am justified in wanting that.

And in my experience poor matchmaking is the cause of toxicity. When you feel like what you do actually matters in the game its easier to get into the game as opposed to just getting bored and troll. If I wanted to watch a game with excellent players where what I do doesn't matter I would just watch a stream.

I'm fine with seeing Platinum level players in my games, it shows that I'm improving, and it also gives me a chance to learn from better people.

Why does it not make sense for Riot to rework Honor? Honor wasn't used so some of Riot's teams banded together to rework it and make it more appealing to use. Riot doesn't have to focus on just one thing at a time, they can do multiple things.

I don't think toxicity stems from poor matchmaking either. I think poor matchmaking could be a minor contributing factor, but even if every game was perfectly matched there would still be very frustrated players. (For the record though, I think matchmaking is all right.)

While I'd agree it'd make more sense for ranked MMR to have a significant influence on normal MMR, Rito's the one making billions of dollars so what do I know?

I suggest you get over your phobia of ranked, there's no rationale for it. So what if you're branded as Bronze or Silver or whatever? People will still find ways to flame you regardless if you're supplying the fuel.

It also doesn't feel good when they're on your team. If they do bad, they flame every mistake you do. If they do well, they can carry a game hard and make you feel unimpactful in the end.

That's what ranked is for. That's why I almost exclusively play ranked nowadays.

Granted, I gotta keep an eye out for those times the system deliberately screws me with three autofilled players on my team, but matches tend to be a lot more interesting than in Normals where only like two people give a shit.
