Mastery Points and Season 7

Has there been any announcements regarding champion mastery, new levels, added rewards? I feel like this system is not yet being fully utilized and could definitely be better. Make it more rewarding to play smart, win games, and overall be a better league competitor.

What are your thoughts as to what the next step with champion mastery could be?

Some neat ideas would be to add hextech chests as a reward for achieving lvl 8? A cache at 9? A random free skin shard for that champ at 10?
