How is Fiddlesticks a support?
When he doesn't heal anyone. What is a support in this game? Two of his four abilities are pure damage abilities too.

He is a kill-lane support. Similar to Lux or Zyra. They do not heal either, but they are able to zone out the enemy. They way Fiddle does it is through his silence and occasionally his fear. He does not build like the Meta supports.
What makes him a support rather than a damage dealer? Silence and fear? How can the support category be so broad if compositions are rigid to having one support per team?
I'm assuming Fiddlesticks could possibly be counted as a support due to his quite long Q Fear Crowd Control (Max Level is a few seconds.), Along with his E causing Silence Debuff on their ADCarry, which could be crucial to Caster AD's such as Ezreal, Corki, and Graves. His W Drain, let's him sustain in lane, and also easily get all the Spellthief Edge
support item's passive off. I could see it working with Frost Queens Claim Support
due to the slow, and his ultimate having high base damage over time. Though, he doesn't seem too gold efficient due to his main item Zhonya's Hourglass
costing over 3000 G and being part of his core build. I wouldn't consider Fiddlesticks a real support at the time, but, he could possibly be a fun one.

Fid use to be a top tier support with his fear, silence, and ult. Fear, before it made them run away and completely break his kit, would completely stop an adc from doing damage for 1-2 seconds every 8 seconds. Mix this with his silence which use to silence multiple times and you have an adc that can't do damage for a solid 4-5 seconds.
Mix all that good stuff with his aoe flash like ult and you had a support that could destroy bot lane and easily roam and gank others.
A support provides assistance and safety to a marksman during the laning phase. A support foregoes a reliable gold source such as creeps or jungle camps to ultimately allow their teammates to allocate more gold for themselves. Due to a supports lower gold income, they will typically opt toward items with more team-focused value in place of selfish stats (

or
may opt towards a
to add a slow to their spells; spells which have less than average utility compared to other supports. Supports, like fighters, are very broad in definition and they can succeed in many ways and they can do many things but a support is generally judged for their teamwork and utility/decision making over their damage output.
There's an item that when activated immobilizes a hero, disabling them from using abilities, and making them invulnerable. If his ultimate has already been cast would activating this item cut it short or allow it to finish?
