Nunu Kit & Lore direction suggestion for his eventual VGU
#Abilities
##Passive - Heat Thief
Every 20 seconds, Nunu's next basic attack or Snowball (E) against an enemy champion or large monster with recently impaired Movement slows their Attack Speed by [30 - 50% based on level] for 3 seconds and increases his own by [20 - 45% based on level] (+1% per 40 Ability Power) for 6 seconds.
Nunu can share this buff with nearby allied champions (175 range). Whenever Nunu steals or grants Attack Speed this way he and his ally are hasted by 15% (+1% per 40 Ability Power) for 2 seconds and Nunu's buff duration is refreshed.
Heat Thief's Cooldown is reduced by Cooldown Reduction.
- Notes: Snowball (E) cannot trigger Heat Thief on its own. Allies get the full 6 seconds even if Nunu only had 0.5 left, but their duration can't be refreshed.
##Q - Consume
- Range: 125
- Mana Cost: 60
- Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds
Nunu commands Willump to take a bite out of a target minion or monster, dealing (360/520/680/840/1000) true damage and restoring 15% of his missing Health.
If he takes a bite out of a large minion or monster he gains 10 permanent maximum Health (max: 300) and (25/30/35/40/45) bonus Movement Speed for 12 seconds (once per target).
##W - Frozen Barricade
- Range: 200
- Mana Cost: 80
- Cooldown: 22/21/20/19/18 seconds cast cooldown, 120 seconds terrain cooldown
Nunu reinforces target terrain or Tower with ice for (6/6.5/7/7.5/8) seconds, granting vision near it and causing it to block and deal (70/110/150/190/230) (+0.7 Ability Power) magic damage to the first enemy champion that tries to dash through it.
Frozen Barricade connects to nearby placed Snowballs outside of monster pits to raise temporary terrain that acts the same way as a separate wall.
Frozen Barricade grants allied Towers a shield that blocks up to (7/8/9/10/11% of Nunu's maximum Health) (+0.1 bonus Mana) (+0.6 Ability Power) damage.
- Notes: This ability consumes placed Snowballs, so you have to sacrifice one to get the temporary terrain. You can also chain Snowballs to create a really long wall, but you can only create one wall per cast. There's several options which Snowball it would prioritize (most recently placed, nearest, furthest, etc.). They'd have to test out which is the most intuitive. The ice and temporary terrain don't fall after someone tries to dash through, they just visually crack to show that you can dash through now. Not sure how wide or long the temporary terrain would be. At least enough to block off a small Jungle Path like between Blue and Wolves or Red and Krugs. The amount of wall affected by the ability would be from terrain to terrain basis like with Talon.
##E - Snowball
- Range: 600
- Placement Range: 250
- Mana Cost: 60/65/70/75/80
- Cooldown: 6 seconds
Nunu begins to roll up a Snowball by following the cursor for up to 2 seconds. During this time, he has 15% reduced Movement Speed.
After 1 seconds, Nunu finishes a Snowball that he can either place nearby or throw at a target enemy to deal (80/120/160/200/240) (+0.8 Ability Power) magic damage and slow them by (40/45/50/55/60%) for 2 seconds. Placed Snowballs melt after a certain time and can be destroyed by enemy champions or picked up by Nunu by walking over them. Nunu can have up to (2/3/4/5 at levels 1/6/11/16) Snowballs placed at a time.
After 2 seconds, Nunu finishes a Large Snowball that he can only throw in a target direction instead to deal (8/12% at levels 1/11) of the first enemy hit's maximum Health bonus magic damage and stun for the duration instead.
- Notes: I don't know how long the Snowballs should last. Nunu can pick up placed Snowballs just to place them elsewhere if he wants to. Every time he finishes interacting with a Snowball this ability goes on a minimum 1 second static cooldown during which Nunu cannot interact with placed Snowballs. Nunu cannot pick up a second Snowball while he's already holding one. Nunu can carry a Snowball for up to 4 seconds. Not sure if it should disappear or just pop down as a placed Snowball somewhere nearby. Freshly placed Snowballs can't be destroyed by enemies for 1 second either, so they can't just step on Snowballs to prevent his W. They can still CC Nunu can then step on the Snowballs.
##R - Absolute Zero
- Range: 600/650/700
- Mana Cost: 100
- Cooldown: 120/100/80 seconds
Passive: Snowball's cast time is reduced by up to (20/30/40%) near enemy champions with impaired movement.
Nunu begins to channel for 3 seconds, dealing (4/6/8%) of nearby enemies' current Health as magic damage each second and slowing them by 50 - 95% increasing over the duration. Nunu applies Heat Thief on enemies who were in range for 1 second.
If Nunu channels for at least 1.5 seconds and the channel is interrupted, he deals (250/400/550) (+1.0 Ability Power) magic damage to nearby enemies and reapplies the current slow for 4 seconds. If it was interrupted by an enemy the damage is reduced by 40%.
- Notes: Does not interact with Heat Thief's cooldown.
#Lore
Nunu is a yordle researching Freljordian architecture first hand. He could be a traveling researcher, or be from Piltover/Zaun and researching cooling systems, from Bandle City, or maybe he could have found Freljordian architecture elsewhere in the world and he wants to compare (because the world used to be ice). He wants to know more about how the architecture from Freljord was used to shape magic (see: Ornn and the Howling Abyss) or wants to know more about True Ice.
He has a run in with Lissandra at an abandoned, 'cursed' castle in the middle of nowhere. He finds Willump in the dungeons and sets him free. Willump is either a Yeti Mage, Iceborn, Watcher or a Demigod (please not Demigod). He can shape True Ice with his hands and melt it with his breath. He can control ice to a certain extent.
Alternatively, all Yetis can do this but they're almost extinct.
Through their story we learn more about the Watchers. Possible set-up for a first Watcher champion.
