It's frustrating how little room Mordekaiser gives to improve on him

Isn't this the exact type of design we wanted juggernauts to move away from? Have we decided to turn around in that philosophy now?

Mordekaiser is so basic and barebones and he doesn't ever give me a feeling like I've gotten better at using him after about 30-40 games since his relaunch. Every juggernaut who's like this has been or is getting changed away from that. There's no hook to his gameplay that distinguishes him, and almost all of what little skill growth he has are things we have plenty enough of already - skillshots. His R is even more offensive about it because whether or not you used it correctly completely comes down to "Do I have the numbers to win?"

It's really weird that Garen ends up being the best example of this sort of melee-exclusive juggernaut. He has at least respectable skill growth in using Q and W to counter CCs, and it creates just enough variance in him that his basic gameplay loop feels engaging.

This VGU feels sorely unfinished right now and I hope Riot comes back to address him soon. It's very telling how he's bled out a lot of mains who haven't really been replaced except by short term FOTM riders.

Do you actually have fun playing as juggernauts or do you just have fun complaining about them?

Whats your elo? If youre not the best mordekaiser NA theres more to learn. I used him to clim from silver to nearly platinum in a month.

I personally think theres a lot of depth to his ult besides "can i win?"

I ult the jungler to keep him away from dragon and baron.

I initiate a fight and ult the enemy tank/support right before i die just to heal off of them and continue to 1v5 at max health again.

I ult the 20/0 master yi when he initiates on my team and run away just to give my team a chance to ace his

No champion in this game requires more than a few games to master in terms of how to use the abilities properly. The thing that requires mastery is learning what decisions you should make in the myriad situations that can occur.

I have an idea.

Morde will now get less stat-leeching during ulti, but when he successfully kills the opponent in his R, instead of keeping the stat-leech for a little longer, he gains the ghost of the enemy he'd defeated as a minion which will follow Morde for a certain amount of time that Morde can also issue orders to.

There's not much to improve on champs like juggernauts since they have all the tools to be high damaging behemoths without ever having to think about dying in an instant.

I'd argue that champions like Fiora, Irelia, Riven, mages, and marksmen require more thought into their gameplay because they're at a higher risk of dying instantly compared to juggernauts. This is because they don't have as lengthy or as outstanding defensive options that Juggernauts have. At the same time there isn't a huge worry of missing skills since Juggernauts cover a wider area with their attacks in comparison.

This isn't to say Juggernauts are easy to play, but with how their cooldowns are structured (Having 1 spammy ability, 1 durability steroid/innate healing, armor/MR ignoring and shredding passives, single target/isolating ultimates, it's easy to pick up on the patterns to play them optimally.

It's pretty sad how little skill expression there is with him now. I'd say the furthest it goes is ult prioty and strategically self-peeling with his E.

Tbh I've been really demoralized by the design team's creations as of late. Years ago there was rumblings of adding some skill expression to tanks, but that never came to pass. Tanks are still as dull as ever to play.

The thing that really sticks out here is that if Riot makes a fighter, or assassin, or something geared for edgelord players, those champs either have an absurdly high skill ceiling, a completely overloaded kit, or both. Im lookin at champs like Sylas, Akali, Irelia, Yasuo, Pyke, etc.

So its plainly obvious that Riot designers understand how to pack a kit thats perfect for players that wanna one trick a champ with a sky high skill ceiling, but those design efforts just dont go to certain classes. Juggernauts, Enchanters, Vanguards, etc.

The thing that gets me is when I hear things like Blastoise sounding off about how much he loves champs like Akali or Yasuo.

OK fine sure, he likes them and thats great - so if high intensity kits are so awesome, why do they keep getting delivered to only a handful of champ classes?

Like there are already enough entry level champions in this game. I dont understand why they dont make a high skill ceiling vanguard, enchanter, juggernaut etc.

I would argue champions like those would add more fun to the game, than some off beat stuff like an assassin "support"

doesn’t this complaint read a bit like “why isn’t Morde overloaded Rito?”

Though, his W could use more work.

Abibyama II9/11/2019, 1:27:30 PM2 votes

Combine his W and Passive into one ability, adjust the numbers and give him a new passive.

Saevum9/12/2019, 9:46:15 AM1 votes

His W could be some sort of skillshot mark that if you land it, the next Q will do bonus damage to the target marked and heal for a % of damage done. Right now, it is true that his W feels incomplete.

preternatural9/11/2019, 1:41:48 PM1 votes

i would rather rito just remove the healing component from his W and put something else on him.
