Juggernauts OP or Meh?

On January 16th, 2018, Season 8 will start, and everyone's rank will reset. I didn't really play that much rank for the system to calculate my rank, but I just know it's going to be very bad. The problem is the champions I play in the top lane. In most of my games, which includes non-ranked games, I found out that I succeed the most on juggernauts. When I play other champions who aren't juggernauts, I lose miserably! Juggernauts are champions with a mix of attack, defense, and split push, but they lack mobility and they tend to have a very bad early game unless the jungler ganks top lane early. Now, most of you might be asking, "Why can't I just find a juggernaut that is safe to pick?" But that leads to another problem with juggernauts, they don't have that many good matchups. Sure they go against tanks well, but not all juggernauts can do that. For example, SingedSinged proxy farms, OrnnOrnn can build his items in lane without missing that much cs, and Cho'gathChogath counters one of my favorite champions, UrgotUrgot. I want to find a juggernaut that's a safe bind pick, and I want to know why I do so well on juggernauts. What do you guys think? Sure you guys can say that I'm just trash, but if your New year's resolution is to be less toxic, helping me is a start. Happy New Year everyone!

This is a list of juggernauts I already have for top lane, and what I want to get, the ones I want to buy will be bolded: ShyvanaShyvana NasusNasus UrgotUrgot TrundleTrundle YorickYorick

This is a list of non-juggernaunts that I do decent on: JaxJax GangplankGangplank FioraFiora NautilusNautilus

If I were to play a juggernaut, who should I ban?

Out of current Juggernaut roster, Illaoi is probably the safest pick. She is kinda busted atm with kleptomancy and does not honestly have that many „bad match ups”, she outright destroys majority of melee lanes, and does fine vs most ranged bullies like Heimerdinger Teemo . Even champions like Fiora , that are supposed to counter her, can quickly find themselfes dead if they mess up even slightest bit.

Overall, unless ganked super hard pre 6, its kinda difficult to completely shut Illaoi down.

Illaoi only viable juggernaut atm

If you're looking for a Juggernaut who will be a safe blind pick right out of the gate I'm afraid no one can help you. Juggernauts are punisher champions, they are at their best when they know their matchups and can wait for their opponents to make a mistake.

I've been playing Garen since season 1, and I'm to the point where I'm more than happy to pick Garen into an enemy Quinn. I love that matchup and know exactly what I need to do to turn that lane in my favor. It's not a lane that someone inexperienced with Garen would do well in, and in fact I'd expect a new Garen to endlessly feed, but with experience the lane ends up being very different.

The same can be said for the other Juggernauts. The more you learn each individual matchup the better that matchup is for you, even if it should be a loss. The goal here isn't to find a Juggernaut that is safe to blindly pick into the enemy team, it's to take a Juggernaut and force them to be a safe blind pick.

I don't think Jax, GP, or Fiora count as juggernauts, believe they are counted as duelists. Kinda think that applies to Trundle as well. Also, most juggernauts are often expected to join goon squads and not split push. Their lack of mobility makes them less ideal to escape being chased back from a push while their tanky brawler nature helps stand as a barrier to the backline.

Illaoi, Urgot, and Cho are among the safer blind picks because they have decent range harass.

Memelord Garen is a goddamn headache at all stages of the game, his passive letting him stay in lane better than almost anyone, and his fuckall speed steroid to R a Villain squishy late game is just busted. Darius is more tricky but potentially even more dangerous with his Ult reset. I would say either Garen or Darius is a better one to pick up over poor Yorick.

Juggernauts are shit.

Most juggernauts are fairly bad. Top lane Illaoi is the best, with Yorick, Nasus, and Urgot being viable until at least high diamond. Jungle Shyvana is apparently good, though probably only until high diamond.

I suppose the question is answered better if you consider what league you're playing in. I've playing a ton of Top Lane, and I know all those champion's weaknesses and how to exploit them, so to me, none of those champions are overpowered.

The recommended build for juggernauts is pretty plain and obvious, but that doesn't mean you exactly know how to utilize a any particular champion well.

I wouldn't pick either of those champions since they all melt in the presence of the ADC for Top Lane. I would pick those champions to have fun, but not to win. Picking a Tank or an ADC in a Top Lane matchup is the cheapest and boring way to win a game.
