Magic Resistance Item Concepts

This game is in DESPERATE need of more magic resistance items. Here are 3 ideas that I came up with.

Petricite Plating: 2900 gold Build Path: Negatron Cloak Spectre’s Cowl +450 gold

250 health 100 magic resistance

Unique Passive/Active: Arcane Bulwark - Store 1.5% of all magic damage taken. Attacks will steal 2% of the target’s total ability power. Upon activation, gain a magic damage shield equal to the total damage absorbed for 3 seconds (capped at 600). Lose all of the stored damage upon activation. (200 second cooldown)

Nullifying Garment: 1200 gold Build Path: Null Magic Mantle +650 gold

35 magic resistance

Unique Passive: Nullify - Taking magic damage deals 2%(+4% bonus magic resistance) to the attacker and applies grevious wounds for 4 seconds.

Bane of the Arcanic: 2900 gold Build Path: Negatron Cloak Null Magic Mantle Ruby Crystal +930 gold

90 Magic Resistance 250 Health

Unique Passive: Nullify - Taking magic damage reflects 2%(+8% bonus magic resistance) of the damage back at the target as magic damage and inflicts grevious wounds for 4 seconds.

That Petricite Plating and Bane of the Arcanic will kill mages.

The 100 MR is even more than Force of Nature (not to mention its unique passive and active further shrinking it), effectively making you a stonewall that Mages can’t kill.

For Bane, reflecting damage back on Mages who are squishy and have no sustain, against a tank who has double the mage’s HP and can regen all its HP back with Warmog’s, would be extremely unfair and possibly unhealthy. Imagine a Teemo who runs away with low health. What does the tank do? Step on a Teemo mushroom and have it reflect the damage to him, essentially finishing him for free without any effort. Any other mage would easily not be able to outdamage the tank, with the combination of Adaptive Helm, Warmog’s and your suggested items. They’ll just continue to kill themselves by hitting the tank. How is that even fair?

These items will also break most champs. Mundo already gets so much regen, and his E already gives him bonus MR every time he uses an ability in combat. Any more and he would be invulnerable. Almost all juggernauts, divers and bruisers would benefit way too much with these items in team fights, doing so much reflected damage for free. Galio would become a monster with those stats, and Sejuani would never die with her passive buffed to those numbers.

Not to mention that they are pretty cheap for items that provide a lot of stats. Sure they are worth just as much as a Sunfire or a Dead Man’s, but their resistances NEVER reached that high.

Besides, what’s wrong with Stoneplate, Locket, Merc Treads, Maw, Banshee’s, Zeke’s and Mikael’s? They provide good MR and actives to help you and your team. Why does everybody always overlook them? Is it because everybody is a bruiser main or something?

These are nice but wouldn't Nully garments be part of Bane's build path since they are counterparts to thornmail and bramble vest?

Did a mage kill your whole family? They are supposed to be countered by champs with natural MR, like Shen and Mundo, not by any champion with a single item.

Something to think about when you make future fantasy itemization - MR stat being unique. Can you even imagine the implications of this item being stacked with Mercs and possibly Spirit Visage, which is a core item to many champs already? Having a single 100MR item would already be more than Mercs + one of the existing ones.

And even with UNIQUE Magic Resist, you still have to remove the Health, how can you put even more tankiness into an already broken defensive item?
