Do you think riot deleted akali?

With all other reworks a fundamental play style or niche was kept. You still feel like your playing the older champion if even somewhat. Urgot still felt like he was some nightmare thing trying to chase you down, Swain is still the "unleash the beast" heal tank with some cc, Evelyn is still the perma-hidden champion and Nunu and WW still feel somewhat familiar.

Akali feels.... nothing like old akali. Not only that but they dumpstered her.

Why I played the old akali:

  • Q was very satisfactory both in feel and its effect. Pretty straight forward. I can understand people hating the reliable damage a bit.

  • W was also a move I liked. It was actually a reliable farming tool. Her present Q. I really don't like the energy cost now. Two Qs and your empty

  • Ult - More or less the same reasons as diana and irelia. I feel mobile. This was the reason I played her. I liked dashing everywhere. It made everything feel so fluid.

  • Heals - I liked the built in heals. She was the only drain/heal bot/tank thing I liked.

What they kept:

  • Her old Q is now on everything as its her passive, but now you have to walk away from the person you just hit to use it.
  • Her shroud is now a growing doughnut and takes/took up a bunch of her power budget.
  • Her ult is still a dash but now it's a longer cooldown, still has charges and you have a delay between charges.

What they added

  • Her E is now her old ult and a backwards dash away from the direction you cast it in.

  • She doesn't heal inherently now

  • She has a slow and a stun now

I guess the shroud is her new identity now and she did technically have it on her old kit but I don't really find her that appealing now. She was more or less a single target Katarina that I preferred but now she's this hit and run drive by style champ. Even with all the nerfs irelia got she is still appealing because what I played her for before is still there and her new parts complement that. Don't like the new akali playstyle at all, personally. My second or third highest mastery champ btw so that's just a part of my league career up in smokes.

Well, Akali still has one thing consistent that I think people overlook. Akali has always been about weaving in and out of a fight, damaging your opponent and fading away into the shadows before you strike again. New Akali can do that much better, as old Akali needed to do it but didn't have the proper tools to. She had no escapes whatsoever, and shroud was not a very strong tool to prolong fights. She's better equiped now. They need to give her more healing (perhaps on passive) and more all-in potential (perhaps lower wait time for the second cast of ult) to really get back to her core identity best, but they've kept her feeling like Akali in 1v1s.

When you get to teamfights, she does feel completely different, though. Old Akali jumped from enemy to enemy, blasting a combo, fading out, and dashing to the backline. New Akali misses some of that potential. But she does have enough that I still feel like I'm playing Akali.

Basically I think the rework is good, it just needs some somewhat major tweaking.

Saying this as an Akali main since 2013. My favorite champion in the game then and now.

I had a hard time moving over from the old Akali to the new one. She's my favourite champion and one of the few that still makes me enjoy this game. Right now she's really weak and I hope they buff her back up. Ultimately if they reverted her (which prob won't happen) I would also be quite happy.
